I'm having a definite love/hate relationship with this printer. It's reasonably quiet and reasonably fast once it starts printing. My two major issues are:
1. Even though I have a fast Windows 7 computer with plenty of memory it will sometimes take over a minute for the printer load a small B&W into memory, sort the pages and start printing. On longer print jobs it will stop in the middle of the job for about 30 seconds and then continue.
2. The cost of consumables will probably force me to buy another printer soon. 98% of my use is to print B&W text files in draft mode set to use black only to save ink. Unfortunately when starting up or even after loading a new ink cartridge the printer goes through a lot of color ink. I've printed two color pages and yet have had to replace all of my color cartridges once for every two black cartridges. This works out to about $30 per color page. Alternately, it works out to about $0.04 of color ink for every B&W page plus the black ink. This is unacceptable. Unfortunately I noticed this long after any reasonable return period.
If you're regularly printing a mix of black and color pages on a daily basis the consumable cost may work out better.
The print quality of my 9 year old OKI color laser is better both in B&W or color. That's part of the reason why I just use the HP for draft work.
