Digital camera Review: "Cannot copy, scan or fax" - Anyone has this problem?

Hi. I had this unit for less than 2 years and was pretty happy with it. I had encountered most of the problems mentioned here, but in all, the printer is OK.
The software does SUCK, but you can kill the status pop-ups and yes, you can scan to pdf. The lack of the standby-lights (off mode) and the inability to make double-sided copies makes no sense whatsoever.
Here is my problem. It seems that the scanning head cannot move to the right past the certain point, since the unit freezes every time I try to fax, scan, or copy off the glass. It gives me the afore mentioned message "Cannot copy, scan or fax" and then it refuses to power down. I was able to remedy this problem only once by turning it off and on. Since then I cannot perform any of the above operations. I reinstalled the software w/o any effect. Printing is not affected.
Any suggestions, or should I chuck this one?

The fax functionality is performed by a 33.6 Kbps modem at speeds up to three seconds per page. The built-in memory can hold up to 90 pages and the fax is capable of color faxing, delayed sending, and auto-redialing with a maximum of 48 broadcasting locations. The scanner uses a Contact Image Scanner (CIS) for scans at up to 4800 dpi optical resolution with a scan size of up to 8.6 by 11.7 inches. The copier supports pages up to this size as well and you can make up to 50 copies in one pass. Color copies are supported and there are settings for enlarging and reducing from 50 to 400 percent.
