Digital camera Review: A Great Printer So Far
Summary: 5 Stars

I've only had the printer for a few weeks, so my comments have to be filtered through that, but so far I find it to be a very good machine, and I am not an HP fan by any means. But I wanted a printer that printed on writable CD/DVDs, and there just aren't that many to choose from in the price range I was after. I read all the other reviews and, frankly, I was concerned about what some others have said. But I decided to take the chance. I haven't been disappointed.

First, some people have complained about the setup procedure being difficult or failing to complete. I read the setup poster, did what it said to do, and everything went just fine.

Second, people complained about the strange noises and long periods of time when the machine was resetting in between prints. OK, so there's a lot of clunking and whirring going on. So what? And the "long" periods of time are subjective, and in reality are maybe 20 seconds long. So what?

Third, the most often voiced concern is that the printer is an ink hog. This is often voiced in the same sentence as comments about the outstanding print quality. Maybe if it didn't use so much ink, the print quality wouldn't be so good, h'mmm...? And to be honest about it, every photo quality printer drinks ink.

Fourth, some people have complained that the included HP software is horrible (they're right) and that they other labeling software won't work with the printer (they're wrong). I bought and installed Surething Labeler and Surething and the printer play very nicely together.

Like I said, I bought it to make labels on printable CDs and DVDs and so far, it's doing that very well. If I become disillusioned with it in the future, I'll update the review. But so far, so good.

Digital camera Review: A bit disappointed...
Summary: 2 Stars

My purchase of this printer was for the specific purpose of printing DVDs. In order to do so, you must use the software that comes with the printer, but the options for picture and text layout are so limited that the only practical option seems to be in creating the artwork in Photoshop, then applying the artwork by using the HP software's "General" option. Two hours of real-time "chatting" with south-east Asia didn't improve my options.

Once an image is ready, the printer is very good at applying the image; attempts to print on top of a just-printed image (increasing the contrast) shows that the printer is capable is very good registration, with no apparent 'ghosting' by subsequent layers of ink.

The touch screen is a nice concept but, unfortunately, the sensitive areas are so small and so close to each other that my not-all-that-fat fingers frequently select the wrong option. Though the color LCD panel tilts up to improve viewing, that advantage is lost when touching the screen: the screen plops back down flat. This printer will require a very sturdy table as there is quite a bit of force arrested when the print-head mechanism comes to a stop. Printed instructions, and the printer-resident help available on the color LCD, are barely adequate, and that may be an over-statement. Ability to print borderless 4X6" prints directly from a camera's memory card has provided some beautiful photos.

Digital camera Review: A great photo printer for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the 4th HP printer I have owned and it is about the best in quality. I purchased it mainly for the picture printing and ability to directly label
CD and DVD's. For what I wanted, it is just right. The unit seems to go through alot of mechanical functions when first turned on and the startup is long.
The quality of the print jobs is superior. I am somewhat disappointed with the ink consumption, but I get around it by using my other HP for the more routine print jobs. The cost of replacement ink is pretty high compared with other HP units. This printer is loaded with features. Direct printing from memory cards is pretty neat. All in all, I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it for photo and labeling jobs. Use a cheaper printer if you are doing batch printing or just black and white letters and handouts.

Digital camera Review: A great printer; a great value
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always had good luck with HP printers, and for my first photo printer I decided to go with this one. What drove me to the D7560 was price; Amazon had a special deal. I really didn't want to 'over spend' on a printer that would be used sporadically. But I was very impressed when the D7560 came. It was very easy to set up and the print quality is phenomenal. What most people forget is that great print quality on a photo printer is at least as much due to the paper as it is to the printer. So my advice is to stick with HP photo paper as well. The on-screen touch display of the D7560 is a nice touch; only a few years ago this technology didn't even exist. I'm sure photo purists could pick apart the D7560, but I'm not really one of 'those' people. We have occasional top-notch pictures that we take as a family that deserve 'photo-printer treatment.' That means a printer that's easy for EVERYONE in the family to use. And the media slots allow anyone to print files whether or not the PC is turned on.

Digital camera Review: AT LAST!
Summary: 5 Stars

AFTER PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM WITH LEXMARK, I LUCKED OUT AND NOTICED A SPECIAL ON AMAZON FOR THIS WELL REVIEWED HP PRINTER. NATURALLY I EXPECTED TO HAVE TO GET A TECH TO HELP ME WITH THE INSTALL...BUT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE NOISY START-UP PROCEDURE, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY. AND THE PRINTS...SPECTACULAR WOULD SUM IT UP.
