Digital camera reviews of HP Wireless Elite Keyboard and Mouse

Digital camera Review: Good Product
Summary: 5 Stars

Mouse clicks louder than my old one but is by no means a deal breaker. I enjoy its size and compactness as not much room to spare on my desk. It does look nice and feels nice and I would recommend it.
Just one thing is annoying to me most likely exclusive to me.
1. Sleep button puts computer to sleep does not fully awaken but it must be the vista OS as this is typical with trying to put the computer to sleep.

Digital camera Review: Good keyboard, so-so-mouse and one significant flaw...
Summary: 3 Stars

This is, overall, a good wireless mouse and keyboard kit. I have owned it for about a year now and here are my thoughts:

Keyboard: The keys are spaced apart correctly and have a high-quality, solid feel to them when pressed. The keyboard is lightweight and sleek looking, and when compared to other wireless keyboards, is pretty good when it comes to battery usage. It takes two standard double-A batteries that only need to be replaced once every five to six months.

But there is one big flaw with this keyboard that disqualifies it from anything above a three star rating. HP placed the bottom-left "ALT" key in the wrong position. That key is supposed to be two keys to the right of CTRL, the way it is with basically every other PC keyboard on the planet. HP inexplicably spaced that ALT key three keys away, so the Windows key is now in the exact place where you would expect to find the ALT key. The result is that I find myself constantly pressing the Windows key when I intend to press ALT. You might ask -- won't you just get used to the different position for the ALT key? No, because on a daily basis I use a work desktop and laptop that have the ALT key in the correct position.

This may not be a big deal for some, but I regularly use keyboard shortcuts through the ALT key so this is an issue for me. I ended up fixing this problem through a Windows registry hack that literally reassigned the key assignments for the Windows and ALT keys, but that's a very advanced and risky solution I wouldn't recommend for most people.

Mouse: The mouse is not as good as the keyboard, but it's okay. It has a shiny and glossy finish that I don't particularly like, but the buttons and roller have a good quality feel to them.

Wireless transceiver: The mouse and keyboard connect through a small Bluetooth wireless transceiver that plugs into a USB port. The transceiver has a bright blue LED that lights up anytime you're using the mouse or keyboard, which can be distracting for some. Compatibility is good, though, and the transceiver has worked on every PC that I've tried.

Digital camera Review: Good price for what you get
Summary: 3 Stars

I love the thinness of the keyboard! And it's a really great product for being so cheap. I have two gripes with this product: a) The USB key turns a bright blue color when you are using this. If you have the USB key anywhere near your peripheral vision, this is a big distraction. I would love to turn it off but I haven't found out how to do that yet. b) The mouse clicking is LOUD.

Digital camera Review: Great
Summary: 5 Stars

Works well, sturdy, good price everything we wanted. We wanted a wireless and keyboard to hookup to our computer which we have hooked up to our living room tv and this works great. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of the wireless. It was great.

Digital camera Review: Great KB
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this KB for a co-worker who just got a new laptop and needed a KB/mouse combo.

Well he loved it. It's a very thin, practical and good looking KB, just as some laptops KB, flat and cool.

Overall, the guy was very happy with it.

Only one note. I don't know if they have updated the picture of the product, but it's not the same bulky KB it shows. For a better reference, there are a couple of pics that a reviewer posted. Those are more precise.

Cheers.
