Digital camera Review: An acceptable replacement
Summary: 4 Stars

I own a iPod mini first generation revision 1626. I purchase this battery to replace my old one at the same time I changed the micro drive to a compact flash card. Previous tests:

http://geektechnique.org/projectlab/764/battery-life-on-the-flash-based-ipod-minis

stated that I should have 2 to 3x more lifetime (the original battery only gave me 4h of music). However, at this time, I would say that it takes 6 to 7h to drain out (in suffle mode). It should be stressed that the battery that come was a 850mAh rather then a 750mAh. However I still keep my suspicions were it is really true... I keep thinking that I should have more lifetime now with a CF card and a "850mAh" battery, at least 10h!!!
Despite those facts, the battery fits very well on the iPod, is easy to install (after you open the iPod - tip: search on youtube how to open it). I have it for 3months and it is still reliable.
With a price as accessible as it is suspicious, but still you don't have nothing to lose.

Digital camera Review: Applie IPOD Mini battery replacement
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product to replace the battery which was not lasting less them 30min. Product itself may be fine, but replacing it in mini may be tricky and may damage the unit. Instructions which comes is not for mini IPOD. You will need to send email to vendor to get it or find it on cnet.com for video instruction.

I would recommend not spending money to try doing it yourself as you might not get it working after the attempt.

Digital camera Review: Bait & Switch
Summary: 1 Stars

The product received is not the product advertised. The picture on the Amazon page shows the iPod Juice replacement kit with color instructions and blue iOpener plastic tool and two small screwdrivers. The descriptions match the photo. But they send out a cheaper kit with no color instructions, no iOpener tool, and two cheap screwdrivers. The included instructions are not even for the iPod mini...they look like they are for one of the iPod video players. Granted the new battery works and you can find instructions online (although you get no plastic tool to open the iPod which prevents damage to the body of the unit). But, the advertising is still wrong and misleading. I contacted iPod Juice to let them know that someone else is using their product photo and description to lure customers and they are aware of the problem and have been fighting Amazon to correct this issue (to no avail). I contacted The Battery Center to let them know of my concern and they sent me another cheap kit. Now I have two kits but that's not what I wanted to start with. The customer rep from The Battery Center did return my e-mails in a timely fashion and did seem eager to help but he did not seem concerned at all about the real issue here of bait and switch. Anyway, the kit is only a couple of bucks so it's not a huge deal and not the end of the world, but these practices are dishonest and I did file a report with Amazon. We'll see if anything comes of this. I will amend my review if this problem is corrected.

UPDATE 6/09: It appears the photo and description for this item has been updated so good for Amazon and the seller for correcting this problem. I can't change my star rating but I bump it up to three stars now. The battery works well but the aggravation has cost this product two stars.

Digital camera Review: Battery satisfaction

iPod mini Battery Replacement Kit - 750 mAhAfter my frustation of trying to find out how to replace my ipod mini battery, apple wanted 69.00 for the battery replacement program in which you would have to send your ipod to them. I somehow knew that there had to be another way to replace the battery. As always my search landed me on amazon. After finding the replacement battery and reading customer reviews, I gave this product a try. I had nothing to loose because the price was beyond reasonable although the shipping cost more than the product the price remains beyond reasonable. I received the product fast and it came with everything I needed to replace my battery even handy tools. The package insert was not very helpful, but a previous customer recommended going to CNET.com and veiw the video to replace the ipod mini battery. I had ordered 2 kits. It literally took me 15mins to replace the first battery and 5 mins to replace the second battery after looking at the video on CNET.com. It was not difficult at all. Not only was it not difficult to replace the battery but my ipod had atleast over 4hours of continuious play, at first the battery died after about 40mins. It was really easy to replace the battery. Just take your time. I did use tweezers to pick up the tiny screws. You will know what I mean when you replace your battery. I am so thankful for reviews because I always purchase products based on reviews. I highly recommend this product

Digital camera Review: Better battery than described, no iOpener in the kit
Summary: 3 Stars

Pro's:
1. Great price
2. I was shipped an 850mAh battery, not the 750mAh mentioned in the title, or the 600mAh as stated in the detailed description (I should therefore have longer play time between charges - a good thing!)
3. Contrary to other reviews, the front of the package clearly states "For ipod mini", even though, as you'll read in the "Cons", the instructions are incorrect.

Cons:
1. You do NOT get the magical iOpener as described (but a pocket knife helps a great deal)
2. The instructions in the package are for the ipod video, NOT the ipod mini (but you can find videos on youtube for how to get the job done).

The details:
After googling and finding a couple of videos on youtube, it was *relatively* easy to replace the battery. You do need to be careful with the "molex" connector, as the orange thin plastic is ***NOT*** where you should be pulling. That thin plastic is connected to a white, hard plastic connector, and THAT'S what you need to get your tiny screwdriver to pry against. Also, as stated by others, there is a bit of a trick to slide the guts back into the case. It does need to be helped passed the touch pad by gently prying the unit down, away from the keypad while sliding. Once you're passed the edge, the unit slides all the way back into the case, no problem.
In terms of getting the top and bottom covers off, since there's no iOpener as described (a bummer for sure), I used a blow dryer to heat the unit (it softens the glue), and a pocketknife to gently, and slowly peel the top and bottom off. very little, if any damage.

All that said, I agree with others. This is not for the faint of heart. If you've never opened up an electrical device before, I wouldn't recommend doing this. Just one wrong move with the Molex connector or the battery connector, and your ipod becomes a hockey puck.
