Digital camera Review: Great package deal on charger and mini tripod

My daughter has a Sony Cybershot camera that she took everywhere with her for three months after the holidays. However, when we started to pack for spring break, I was shocked to learn that after three months it would not work.
"The battery won't charge" she told me. At first, I mistakenly thought it might be a bad cable, but then I learned these Sony cameras use very unique batteries and chargers. Then I went down the `dumb' mistake checklist to see if the battery was in the charger backwards, or perhaps it was plugged into a bad outlet, or even an outlet on a switch. To my dismay, nothing I tried could get the darn charger to work.
"No problem", my daughter said, "it's probably just a bad battery, let's go to Best Buy and get a new one." So I checked online and learned that, yes you can buy a new battery - for about 50% of what the camera cost! Now, I was feeling my blood pressure rise as I was a little annoyed that Sony had made plans to make so much profit on replacing their defective equipment. After venting a "little" (it's all relative, hehe), I decided to check my favorite site Amazon.com to see if any clever electronics experts out there had a `generic' solution to my problem.
While I was a little concerned because internet research made it sound like the Sony battery had a chip that would prevent non Sony equipment from working with it, I just could not pass up the deal that Osprey-Talon had on a generic charger. It was under $10 - a full $45 less than the Sony brand replacement. I figured "what the heck" and ordered it straight away. It was quick shipped and after unpacking it a few days later I was incredibly happy to see that it worked perfectly, turning what I thought would be an expensive problem into an easy fix.
Additionally, my daughter was absolutely delighted that the charger kit came with a mini-tripod - which is a great help with these cameras as they are always taking videos with them for YouTube and such. I am not sure how they can make any money selling at such a low price, but I can tell you the product works great and I really appreciate Osprey-Talon offering this solution!
