Digital camera reviews of Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

Digital camera Review: Better than expected, beats paying subscription fees.
Summary: 4 Stars

Bought it as a gift for my father so he can watch his World Cup soccer matches while at work (at least the over the air games).

Previously purchased portable TV's (like 8+ years ago), were bulky, in black and white, poor sound/picture quality, hassling with super long antennas, and compursome.

However, this Haier TV was none of it. It exceeded my expectations and my dad loved it! I also loved it so much that I bought a second one for myself to keep in the car!

It's super bright clear picture and sound quality are great. Easy to program, convinient, light weight, comes with a remote control, and is hassle free. Easy to use, right out of the box, with a quick programming needed to pick up all the signals. It's digital TV ready (which was one of my greatest concerns) and needs no additional cables, filters, etc. needed. Just push the button that says "program" and you're done after about a minute or two.

If you're looking a for a portable TV, this is a good choice.

Digital camera Review: Big Disappointment
Summary: 1 Stars

I have a little Casio portable TV which is going to turn into a pumpkin when they stop the analog TV. So I get this Haier from Amazon for $117.99; the screen is bigger but the picture is worse. The Casio gets great reception with the antenna completely retracted. The Haier gets nothing. With the long antenna waving around, it gets poor reception. Connected to the antenna on the roof with a big stiff cable, the reception is good. BUT the digital channels are blurry, so blurry you can't read the crawl. The analog channels are actually sharper. Working the sharpness, contrast, etc. doesn't help. Plus there is the business of changing from normal to wide depending on which station you're watching. This involves 10 button pushes if you get it right. I should spend the $60 on the converter box, keep the Casio, and sent this back to Amazon.

Digital camera Review: Blank Screen - does not work
Summary: 1 Stars

I've just received this tv and turned it on and everything looked great. In about 5 minutes, the screen went blank. I tried removing the battery and antenna and waiting for several hours but still no screen. nothing. i'm returning it tomorrow for refund. when it worked for the 5 minutes, it looked great. i'm so disappointed it went out. this is the first time this has ever happened but i'm afraid to get a replacement for fear the next one will do the same. i sure hope they can fix this problem for future buys.

Digital camera Review: Bogus antenna somewhat weak tuner and battery, STILL...
Summary: 4 Stars

I picked one of these up hoping it would pull in the over the air digital channels for my wife to watch in the kitchen. Our other TV picks up the VERY FEW(2-4) channels we have perfectly with an old UHF antenna from an ancient portable B/W set. This one had no such luck, the included antenna (a single rabbit ear) and the aforementioned UHF antenna from my other set failed to bring in a single channel on the 7" Haier. When I hooked it up to the outdoor antenna everything came in perfectly however,(non digital channels included) The included battery after a full charge(3 or 4 hours) started to flash red(low batt) after maybe 40 mins of viewing, with the sound, brightness, contrast set to fairly low levels. I expected more from the tuner and the included rechargable battery, but the unit does have a nice 480i image and a decent set of speakers on it. The TV does have most of the settings you would find on a larger LCD (picture settings, sleep, WS zoom, etc..)but the remote is really lacking an instant button for CLOSED CAPTIONS which this set displays admirably. The RCA inputs make this valuable as an optional monitor for displaying JPEG SLIDESHOWS, playing older game systems, or using as a portable monitor for digital filmmaking or picture taking. Pretty cool little TV just don't expect too much out of the battery or tuner.

Digital camera Review: BuenEquipo
