Digital camera Review: Great HD TV on my Mac & Laptop PC
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 Hybrid TV Stick because I wanted a device that worked on both a Mac and A PC. Wow the quality in HDTV is fantastic. The product installed easily and works flawless. Great portable device for travel or at a wireless connection point. I highly recommend this product. Some of the reviews were negative regarding the quality of the picture, so I was a little nervous about taking the plunge. My guess is the negative reviews were caused by improper installation, inadequate hardware or older versions of the software. The software used on the Mac is superior to the PC software for ease of use and for setting preferences. I definitely would purchase again and highly recommend the product.

Digital camera Review: Great Product, good value...especially for Elgato users...

I had been using the Miglia TV Micro since 2006 on my imac and it finally died on me recently, unless I did the 'stick it under the blow drier for 5mins' trick, to get it back to live for a few days and then repeat. That got very annoying and I was looking for a replacement and found that the newest versions of TV Micro cost a lot of money, then I stumbled upon this wondrous little gadget. The Hauppauge 1145 MyTV HD TV for the Mac was perfect and priced better plus it supported HD content not just cable and it supports antenna if you're minus both.

It loads up fairly quick and if you have one of the Apple remotes you will quickly learn you can control the channels and go through your recordings with it with great ease. One word of caution, this Hauppauge 1145 only comes with Eye TV light so if you, like me, had Eye TV 2 with your Miglia TV Micro you will find it lacking some features and you'll have to upgrade to Eye TV 3 if you want those features back, like saving your recorded programs etc. One other thing is the Miglia's remote does not support the Hauppauge 1145 MyTV HD so you are unfortunately out of luck on that working for you. However considering it's a completely different company I can't hold that against this fine product, that was just an FYI for people who are upgrading there old USB cable/HD/Sat USB sticks.

I have only one hope now after using this new product, that is that this one out-lasts the Miglia version which is plagued with the issue of not recognizing your computers USB 2.0 connection and thus ceasing to operate and delegating the user to do what I mentioned in my opening paragraph. So so far so good, I recommend it for sure and can't find any faults with it.

Digital camera Review: HDTV Stick
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit works well. I have tried other HDTV sticks and this is head and shoulders above anything else. It gets a lot of HD stations and if connect your TV cable, you get all the analog stations too. I recommend this highly.

Digital camera Review: Handy little device...

The Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 Hybrid TV Stick works great. It's small and easy to use. It's basically plug 'n' play. Just hook the USB side to your computer then you hook up a composite(coaxial) or S-video cable along with the A\V cables and connect them to your TV or cable box.
I recommend connecting via the S-video cable and the A\V cables. The composite connection works ok but the video output wasn't as clear as with the S-video connection. Once I started using this connection, there was a world of difference.
The Hauppauge WinTV software that comes with the device is pretty easy to set up. I had a problem with a part of the installation and I found that Hauppauge's tech support was pretty unknowledgeable. So I wouldn't suggest calling them for anything unfortunately. I had to figure out the problem on my own. Anyhow, once I was able to get the WinTV software to work with the device, everything work out well. My only problem is when trying to record it usually takes between 10-12 seconds for the program to start recording when you press record. It doesn't start recording at an instant. But once it starts recording, you get a nice, clear mpeg output file. This device basically acts as a DVR.
I really like the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 Hybrid TV Stick a lot. It's very useful and best of all it's very portable. Because of the size and plug 'n' play capability, I'm able to use it with my PC and my MacBook(though the Mac EyeTV software is not as good as the PC Hauppauge WinTV software). Other software included is a WinTV Scheduler, great for recording your favorite shows when you're away.
Overall, I recommend this device.

An amazingly simple to use yet high quality product. Nothing but praise and no complaints. Works flawlessly with my 24" iMac. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to view cable TV on their computer.
