Digital camera Review: Made My Vista Ultimate 64-bit Machine Work!

I had a Gateway PC with Windows Media Center 2005 installed, and upgraded to Vista Ultimate as soon as it came out. Naturally, I experienced the compatibility problems many other Vista upgraders experienced, and one of the casualties was my OEM TV tuner card, which either burned out or didn't have the proper driver support.
I bought this card hoping it would fix the problem, and so far it HAS with flying colors! I just popped the PCI card into the slot my old TV tuner card occupied, powered up and Vista automatically searched the web for the proper drivers. I didn't even have to run any installation software!
Because I didn't install any of the Hauppauge software, I can't comment on their WinTV2000 application. I also can't tell you about their included remote, or the HDTV antenna input I don't use, but I can tell you one thing.
This card works wonderfully to get an analog cable signal for Windows Vista Ultimate, and all of the functionality you'd expect from Windows Media Center (including the ability to change the channel using your existing Windows remote instead of the Hauppauge one) works great!

I'm getting too old to screw with stuff for hours if it doesn't work when it comes out of the box.....But I still do occasionally, as with this..I had a confirmed good jack and cable and for some reason the reception on this was horrible ! I tried many different settings for the cable format, but to no avail...the reception was that bad...then I ran the cable into a TV...and perfect reception.
Some reviews I read bashed the software....not that bad..a little slow, but I didn't think it was that bad, but note: THE DOCUMENTATION IS VERY BAD...you won't get a ton of info from it.
As I said, after repeated attemps of switching cables and jacks and such - no change. So I returned it...too bad.. I live only a few miles from the company I would have liked to patronize them, but you don't get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

The Hauppauge 1600 is a great little card for the multimedia PC. This card has great picture quality compared to some of the other cards I have used. There is an analoge and digital imput connection so you can watch HDTV, regular cable and even DIGITAL CABLE. The remote is nice but the software sucks, it is very basic with few options. Easy to install only drawback is the limitation of external connections through the S-video connection. It does not have a stereo audio or video imput.Digital camera Review: Nice product hard to configure.

It does what it needs to do but the description is misleading.
This is not for digital cable but rather for QAM only (HD signals).
It was confusing how to set it up with BeyodTV product but there are very good forum out there that helps.
If anyone wants a card for digital cable - please note that most channels on digital cable are SDV (Switch demand Video) and this card does not support that.
It is very hard to configure the QAM channels and gives very little benefit.
