Digital camera Review: Is price an issue given its limitations?

The first issue I have is with the software and it is crappy crappy. If you plan on converting with it than get ready to spend a lot of time waiting since it will take hours. Your best bet is to find you own program and convert to a resolution you are happy with. I use a program called Wondershare HD Converter and it works great. The problem I had initially was with the format that came straight from recording be it ts. mts. or mp4 my programs would all crash when trying to open the newly captured material hence I had to find a converter that works good. My Sony Vegas 9 would crash when I tried to open freshly captured material and now with converted material it works fine. I prefer using my own programs over the mediocre software included and the one issue is with converting you might lose your 5.1 surround sound. If you don't plan on putting it on a blu ray or dvd than it might be okay just as raw footage to be used streamed to your computer or PS3 or however you want to playback. I found it great to stream back to my PS3 but if the stream is to big it will become choppy over my network.
My next issue is the remote I mean come on if you are going to ship it with the system you would think the remote would actually work with the system itself but it doesn't at all. The IR remote is for the third party software that you can get. That was a massive let down considering I use this a lot considering I capture game footage with it and having to set at my computer is an awkward one. My computer is about six or eight feet to the side of my computer and for me to record I either have to get up from my seat and turn the t.v. or just simply set at my computer and record what I want. You can't capture and play by watching your computer screen either considering there is about a three second delay and it will make for bad gameplay if you tried.
My other issue is the price since two hundred bucks is a lot for a machine that is mediocre at best. The machine itself does not feel like it should cost that much since it feels relatively cheap. If you can get full use out of all its features than maybe it is worth it to you. The quality of what is recorded is fantastic and you can vary to your preference and desire how much quality is there. Keep in mind file sizes will be massive for long programs and recording though. At first 5.1 would crash the software when selected but when you update your software it fixes that for you and now you can capture just fine. For me the price tag does not warrant it's limitations. I would expect more of one hundred or one hundred fifty price range but considering it is one of the first its to be expected. Overall get it try it and see if you like since the price is quite the investment.
