Digital camera reviews of Hauppauge 1213 WinTV-HVR-2250 PCI-E x1 Dual TV Tuner

Digital camera Review: Great Tuner
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my HTPC. I'm using it with a roof mounted tv antenna pulling in OTA HD and analog signals. Picture and sound are great. It was easy to install (*The only minor setback I had was with the remote control plug- make sure you push the plug in ALL the way in the back). I am not using the software that comes with it (it comes with its own DVR software), instead I am using it with Windows Media Center (running on Windows 7 Professional). It was easy to configure with WMC and has been working for the past two months without any issues. With two tuners it can record two channels at once or you can watch one and record another at the same time. The remote is good too- nothing special, but works perfectly.

Digital camera Review: Great Tuner Card
Summary: 5 Stars

The Hauppauge tuner card went in with no problems and is fully compatible with Vista. I have had zero issues and would recommend this card to friends and family!

Digital camera Review: Great Tuner card - get extra cable channels
Summary: 5 Stars

I connected to cable and got stations I should only get if I had a set top cable box - saved money :)
The Aux adapter allowed me to input my old VCR and video recorder input the computer, via the HVR-2250
The video software included, WinTV7, is OK and uses the new tv format standard .TS, but does not include a Electronic Programming Guide to schedule program recording; so I had to use Microsoft Media Center. However Media Center now records TV in a strange format (.WTV) which is hard to convert (I have Windows 7 so I can right click on the .WTV file and convert it to the old DVR-MS file)

The HVR-2250 card is GREAT, wish Microsoft wouldn't try to re-invent the world with their new recording format.

Digital camera Review: Great card for Windows 7
Summary: 4 Stars

I upgraded to Windows 7 and my old Hauppauge card just wasn't supported. After a little research I ended up buying the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250.

It installed perfectly and has been flawless so far in Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit).

I have not tried it yet with a digital signal as I am still on analog cable. I plan to borrow an antenna soon and find out how well the Over-The-Air digital works.

A nice surprise was that it has an internal splitter. I only need to plug in one input and it will use both tuners. Another nice surprise is that the card does a lot more work than my last TV card did. Now I can record two shows and still heavily use my computer without it causing hiccups in the recording. With my old card, I could play Battlefield 2142 and record one show and both would work fine, with only an occasional glitch in the recording.

In the end, this has been a great card for me. I highly recommend it.

Config:
Intel C2D 6300 @ 1.86Ghz, 6GB DDR2-800, NVidia 7600GT, Windows 7(x64)

Digital camera Review: Great card, but not perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

The card works well with my Charter cable. I am able to record two channels at once analog or digital cable channels using Windows 7 media center. The only problem I have had is with the remote. I have not been able to get it to work at all. I have tried downloading updates from Hauppauge, but they did not help. I took away one star for the remote control issue, for some people this could be a bigger issue.
