Digital camera reviews of IOGEAR USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter (GBU421)Digital camera Review: A really convenient solution for devices without bluetooth Summary: 4 Stars
This is the first bluetooth adapter i have ever purchased in a burning need to make my wireless headset works with my desktop computer and i have to say this is overall a good choice if you are looking for something that is small enough to not take up a lot of space on the sides of your laptop or any other devices without an onboard bluetooth feature.
PROS:
It is so tiny.like the size of your finger nail.
fit into pretty much any devices without making them looks like they are having an extra finger sticking out of it.
Cons:
the range of this tiny adapter is not very far so you have to stay in range in order to not have your devices being disconnected.
Over all this is a really good product for its price and power. so don't be hesitated to buy if if you really need it!!!
Digital camera Review: About the PowerBook G4 & a Bluetooth speaker Summary: 5 Stars
A bit of low tech info . . .
There are various types of bluetooth technology. The BT within the PB does little more than support a keyboard and mouse.
This IOGear device provides the A2DP technology that enables a BT speaker. If you have installation problems, it may be that you'll need to turn off the (Mac) BT setting in System Preferences.
Sound quality is mediocre, given the PB as the source. The same BT speaker sounds much better given a BT connection with a Blackberry for example.
IOGear's tech support is good: informed, intelligent, and articulate, and does not shutter with questions about the device to which you want to make the connection.
Digital camera Review: Absolute and total garbage Summary: 1 Stars
I have 6 computers running every operating system Windows offers up to and including windows 7 x64. This thing hooks up fine, but it will connect to nothing and I mean nothing! Don't waiste your money on this worthless thing.
Digital camera Review: Adapter Works; Needs Improvement Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this adapter to work with my two year old Vaio laptop that didn't have integrated Bluetooth. I use it to connect to wireless headphones and my Android smart phone. I go between two operating systems including Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10 so I have been able to utilize this adapter in both operating systems with little problems, though it wasn't a painless process to set this up.
Within Windows I experienced the most problems in that the provided mini-disc didn't work at all and I had to resort to downloading the software to use it from the manufacturer. I was hoping that Windows 7 would have native support and that I wouldn't need anything extra but to use it to transfer files and not just stream music the software is a prerequisite. When using Linux(Ubuntu) I didn't experience any problems and had it running within a couple minutes.
The device itself does the job I need it to do although I am upset that the blue indication light is so bright. Although I am usually on the go when using it, I feel as though the light isn't necessary and quite frankly distracting if I am watching a movie or typing. When the device is synced and transferring data it is constantly blinking like a blue strobe light so be fore warned.
Being so small I don't really notice it in the laptop, it sticks out about 7mm, and so far has held up pretty good. The device stays firmly plugged in and doesn't feel loose at all. So with my disdain for the blue light and the setup process set aside you can't really go wrong with this as its cheap and does its job.
Digital camera Review: Almost perfect hardware, disappointing software Summary: 4 Stars
Hardware: The thing is really small. It is kind of difficult to pull out. The blue light inside stays on unless it is streaming data, when it will light intermittently.
Software: (I'm using Win7) Drivers come in a minidisc. They are easy to install. Ok, the problem here is Windows. The interface is either not 100% compatible with the device or windows programmers messed up a lot of code (I plugged the adapter into an iMac and its plug and play style, no drivers, no set up).
Overall: I would recommend it, after all it is a good product for a decent price.
