I originally bought this to connect an older 'XP' computer to my network, the manual says it's designed for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP, but I recently installed in on a VISTA computer, didn't look like any of the instruction examples when installing but it ultimately worked as good or better than the old 'XP'. Product 5 star - bad tech support drops the rating to a 3 star. Maybe a two star drop is rough since I'm now running but...
First the product - I found software install very easy with strong signal strength picked up from my Linksys router downstairs. My problem - WEP key encryption. I didn't know where to enter my WEP key code on the wireless LAN config tool. Hence I couldn't p/u the web even though I had a strong signal.
I couldn't find anything in the install directions. I sent email to Iogear CS with no reply. Phone CS is only Mon-Fri normal business hours. Plus, when I finally was able to call during the week from home, I was on hold for quite some time. But the CS rep who answered was helpful and I was up and running after about 1 minute of tech support.
So, here is where you enter your WEP key as I cannot believe I'm the only one with this problem.
1) Open the LAN config tool window.
2) Click more settings.
3) Click change and set encryption to WEP.
4) Then click WEP encryption key setting.
5) Click change set default key to #1,
6) Enter your WEP key value in #1 field.
I was logged on immediately. I hope this helps!!

I have owned this device for 4 months now. I was nervious when I ordered this. I had used many different usb wireless cards. Linksys, Netgear, Verizon, and SMC. In comparison, this is better. I got the device installed the drivers and it worked. I've had to reload my computer a few times and lost the CD. I went to the company website, entered the product on the drivers page and the drivers downloaded. I have used this on XP and Vista and it worked fine on both. No hastle. It gets a strong signal every time. My linksys and Net gear used to overheat after about 2 hours. They would shut off for a few minutes and I would have to unplug it. This has never done that to me. I bought this adapter to connect my desktop machine to my home's wireless network, and I'm happy to say that it's up and running smoothly without a hitch. Unlike some of the reviews, my computer didn't crash, and I didn't have to be a techie in order to get the software to install properly on my machine. The installation instructions are lacking, but if you have the slightest bit of software installation knowledge, you should be able to figure it out.
The signal strength is great (95% right now), although my wireless router is just in the next room. For the price, I'd highly recommend this to anybody needing a cheap, no frills wireless USB adapter.

I got this because I'm a student and couldn't afford to get a wireless card from Best Buy and pay for installation fee. It was definitely affordable and easy to install. The only thing is that I have a Toshiba notebook and their internet wizard conflicted with the card's software wizard so my IT savvy friend had to do some tinkering (only took him two seconds) to have Windows run the program. I've heard this about other Toshiba notebooks so be prepared if you have one. It works wonderfully and makes my life a hell of a lot of easier. The card lets you set up different profiles for different wireless networks too; I was able to set one up for home and for school so all I have to do is select that profile and it automatically brings up that information. I highly recommend that everyone get this instead of paying to have a wireless card installed!
