I got this to hook a hub to it and share my usb devices between two pc's. That didnt work, I thought it was the hub at first and tried a different hub, nope. Also you cant hook a thumbdrive to this either, gives nothing but erros. Was able to share a printer but I wanted to share all my devices. I needed a USB switcher to enable sharing a HP C4280 printer between my PC and iMac. I read a couple of favorable reviews, then bought it on Amazon for about $28.
This will be a short review, it works. One very minor thing so you won't be surprised; when switching to the PC the Mac says it can't find it's keyboard, I just close the dialog box and keep going (keyboard works fine). I did not load the included software to enable switching from the keyboards as I like to keep things as simple as possible. The switch is inches from reach from either computer so no need for the software. There's a switchable beeper that lets you know when the switch is moving from one computer to the other, also a flashing LED. Nice design, super small and very inexpensive. It even comes with a cable for your printer!
No need to keep looking.

I have for like 3 years used a laptop and desktop with 2 kbs and 2 mice. Cluttered desk hasta la vista with IO gear USB switch. Just hook up both pcs to the back and a usb wirelsss mouse kb combo and your golden. Hit a switch and you toggle back and forth between pc and laptop. I sound like a commercial but the thing is a great little device

Works exactly as advertised. I have an iMac and an XP hooked up to the same Epson. It takes the unit a moment to actually switch from one computer to the other but it works like a charm.
