Digital camera reviews of ION Audio VCR 2 PC USB VHS Video to Computer ConverterDigital camera Review: Junk Summary: 1 Stars
you are better off getting ( or borrowing ) a VCR and a cheap USB or PCI A/V input device.
this would be cheaper and produce better results.
I would give it zero stars if the option was permitted.
Digital camera Review: VCR to Computer Converter Summary: 3 StarsJust wanted to throw a quick jab here - this item is currently on Woot for $29.99 - brand new.
Digital camera Review: BEWARE: Product is inherently defective brand new!! Summary: 1 StarsI was able to transfer a total of 1 single VHS tape (at sub-par quality I might add). The 2nd go around with another tape, the machine started mistracking with erratic video playback, static, jitter, etc. There are onboard tracking buttons but they didn't help at all. I tried using multiple tapes, even fairly new ones: same problem. What kind of a cheap product is this? I mean it can't even perform a basic function of playing back the tape!! I have a 15 year old VCR that can play back tapes better than this ION product. BTW, Amazon used to sell this @ $99 with free shipping, now it costs less but they make YOU pay for the shipping. That tells you many people have had to return this worthless product. Don't buy it!!!
Digital camera Review: Useless, tracking problems Summary: 1 StarsFor the cheap price and the Ion name, I wasn't expecting outstanding quality, but I at least expected a box that would work well enough to archive some crusty old EP VHS tapes. Sadly, the Ion VCR 2 PC was a complete disappointment even by those standards.
Problem #1: After about 10 to 20 minutes of recording, the video preview window simply froze, and nothing after that would be recorded. I managed to work around the problem by installing it on a different PC.
Problem #2: For about 3 out of 4 tapes, the VCR wasn't able to obtain proper tracking. The video would play back at double speed, with no sound, resulting in a completely unusable digital recording. The same tapes play fine in other VCRs around the house, so it's not a tape problem.
It's a shame, because I'm in the market for a box exactly like this. But now I'll be looking elsewhere.
Digital camera Review: VHS C use for VCR2PC Summary: 3 Starswhen i first received ION VCR2PC i couldn't wait to start transfering my old VHS C tape to DVD. the problem was that the tracking would not work. i sent the item back and receive a new one. the same problem! when i put a normal VHS tape in it works just great. When i put my VHS C tape in the adaptor it just would not work and record with out all lines and fuzz. dificult to see the picture while recording. the tracking simply would not work. i went to the Goodwill store and bought an old VHS player to hook up to the VCR2PC. when i played the movie thru the old VHS player which transfered the movie to the VCR2PC machine it improved but stll not great. i didn't have my old VHS C camera to put the tape in and hook up to the VCR2PC so i bought an old VHS player at the Goodwill store. Just be worned that if you are trying to convert VHS C tapes VIA the VCR2PC you will need your old VHS C camera first and if you don't have one buy a VHS Player and hook it up to the VCR2PC. Video out from the old VHS player to in on the VCR2PC. hope this helps..
