Digital camera Review: Acceptable for a 1st webcam

I bought this webcam at a computer superstore that is going out of business. I had always wanted one and obtained this one for a reasonable price.
Setting it up was flawless, no problems. I installed the drivers and software first, as you do with any USB product these days. Then, after a reboot (I think), was instructed to plug the webcam into the USB port. It worked flawlessly.
The motion feature works pretty well. It will focus on your head and move as you move. However, it does get confused if you have a bright light on in the background. There is a Motion Track app that you can have open in a small window on your desktop, which allows you to set it to Automatic tracking in which the motion feature is activated. Or you can set it to Manual, and then use two controls on the interface to control zoom in and out and raise and lower the lens or move it left or right.
The focus is fixed, which becomes a problem when you get very close to the camera--the image becomes blurry. However, this is a problem with most relatively low-end webcams. Also, low light is an issue for this webcam. It does not appear to have any "Rightlight" technology (like the Logitech's) to adjust for different lighting situations. And finally, the image quality may not be as good as you can get with some competing webcams at comparable prices.
The bundled software is old and from ULead (circa 1999). But, it worked okay, allowing me to edit captured video and convert it into a video format that produced a much smaller file.
The bottom line is, this webcam does work. But, it may not be quite up to par for serious webcamers.
