Digital camera reviews of Iomega Portable Hard Drive, FireWire 400/USB 2.0, 160GB - 33749

Digital camera Review: Superb!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this product for $99 in order to back up my G4 PowerBook. I formatted it so that 160GB became 149MB but I could successfully copy all my stuff onto this external HD. (Just for your information, I used "Carbon Copy Cloner", which is downloadable for free. It did an excellent job.) It took me some 1.5 hours to backup/copy 31GB. I don't know if this is fast or slow, but I am satisfied with the fact that I can now use this external HD as a start-up disk (with firewire). For review of other features, I will refer the reader to the rest of this review section. Incidentally, the sales price changed right after I purchased this item. Remember that I bought it for $99 plus Shipping $6.35. The seller was J&R.

Digital camera Review: Unreliable drive
Summary: 1 Stars

Drive failed after I used it twice to back up. Now my data is gone and unless I want to pay a lot of money to have it retrieved, I have a worthless piece of hardware and no data. The company has offered to replace it since it's under warranty with the same drive, but why would I trust another of these drives? I purchased this drive from Amazon after reading good reviews. I have never posted a negative review, but I don't think this is a good product and the consequences of losing your data are too great.

Digital camera Review: Very happy-great value
Summary: 5 Stars

Very easy to use, and great value for the money. I am using this with Mac

Digital camera Review: Works Beautifully
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this on my Macbook running OS Leopard. I partitioned the drive using disk utility, and use part for general storage and part for system back-up using Time Machine. It works flawlessly and is extremely fast using firewire 400 or USB 2.0.

Digital camera Review: Works like a charm!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an Mac G4 iBook and tried 3 different brands of USB2 drives and I could not get them to backup with Time Machine in Leopard. The Iomega with firewire worked perfectly first time I tried it.
