Digital camera reviews of Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275Digital camera Review: Stopped working. Summary: 2 StarsThe drive installed very easily, and worked well and silently.
For about 30 days.
Then it died.
The iomega people sent me a replacement, very simply, except when it arrived, the box had been broken into and the drive stolen.
The backup software is hard to get to on their site, and is hard to use.
I might have just had bad luck...
Digital camera Review: Lost all of the stored data in the first year Summary: 1 StarsLost all of the stored data in the first year. Now can't retrieve any of the files.
If you want to stiore valuable information, don't get this product.
Digital camera Review: Nice looking unit with alot of storage and extras! Summary: 5 StarsIts nice that the unit comes with extra's, like 6 month free Mcaffe virus software and automatic backup software access, buts its even better its not preloaded, you can go to a website to download it. I choose not to go with the extras, but if you also need virus protection, this might not be a bad idea to save some more cash.
The unit looks nice. Its stainless steel( i think, or looks like it) and can add some nice bling to a desktop without being "too much". Vertical mount is a nice option, saves some desk space. Makes a small noise here and there but nothing that I would even notice.
1 TB for under a $100 and all the extras! You cant beat this one.
Digital camera Review: Don't ignore the bad reviews, as I did when I bought it! Summary: 1 StarsAs of the time I am writing this review, there are 110 negative reviews (1-2 starts) out of 685 (16%!!). Granted, content customers may be less likely to bother writing a review, but don't be fooled: you will LOSE big money and precious time if things turn out wrong, as they did for me and many others. My drive failed within a month, and once that happens to you, take note!, and although well within the warranty period, 1) you will never be able to speak to a real person (just chat on Iomega's website to their "customer service", i.e. more waste of time), 2) you will have to pay for the item return out of your own pocket (believe it or not), and 3) if you happened to had put some data on the drive with no backup somewhere else (and after all, some drive has to be first anyway, and even if you are planning to backup right away, drive failure may happen first!), then you will have to take care of data recovery yourself before shipping back your drive, because data recovery, of course, is not covered by the warranty (that's when you will LOSE BIG $$, just check Geek Squad prices for reference: approximately $55 for diagnosis, plus $250-$1,500 depending on the severity of your case). Bottom line, if things go wrong, and they do!, the low price of this item pales next to all the expenses and pain you will go through. And after all that hassle, what's the point of sending back the failed drive to Iomega anyway, just to "recover" $100-S&H by getting back another drive that, chances are, may turn out as another piece of junk! So... you were warned!
Digital camera Review: Great product Summary: 5 StarsGot this product to save photos (just returned from a safari in Africa with literally 1500 images plus lots of video) as we already have another external hard drive to back up our C drive. Very simple to use, works like a charm, can't ask anything more from an external hard drive.
