I love my new Iomega eGo 500 GB external hard drive. The best part is that it does not require an external power supply and is so tiny it will fit in your shirt pocket.
The drive itself is curiously shaped and reminisent of a flask. I find that oddly appealing from an estetics point of view.
Using the fire-wire the drive works quickly but can not be stopped without turning off the machine. If you leave it attached for a long time, when not in use it does get very hot. Using the USB cable you can disconnect it when you are done without having to shut down your CPU.
The cable for USB operation has two plugs for attaching to the CPU and one into the drive itself. I have run the unit using only one USB connection and it has worked fine.
Other than the heat I have no complaints and enjoy the extra space.
