The sound clarity is very high (I have to admit), BUT its either too much or not enough bass, you see there are two knobs on the sub-woofer one for treble (which is fine) and the other for bass and that is were the problem is, when its on the middle the bass is to much, and if you turn it down a bit you lose most of the bass. So it's very hard to balance.
I would suggest a two speaker set (with out a sub-woofer)

My friend has these speakers in black and they are fantastic for watching movies on a laptop. So I ordered them on Amazon and was wondering why these where so much cheaper than the black ones. The white ones don't work! The sub-woffer would have a faint sound coming from it but the two little side speakers would not work at all and the light below would not come on. I have hooked up my friends black ones many, many times with no problems. Sent them back for an exchange, since I really liked the ones that my friend had. But the second ones had the very same problem! This must be why the white ones are so much cheaper than the other colors. This is one of the best speaker system that I have ever heard for the size...just stay far away from the white ones. However, Amazon was fantastic with the returns. They are one of the best that I have seen and made it easy. And another thing that Allen said on October 7, 2007 that I might not have done, push them in hard until you hear the "click." I pushed them in hard but maybe not hard enough. Thanks Allen for this tip.Digital camera Review: Beautiful!

The only speakers I've ever owned, other than these, were blockish and black, and genereally ugly. I suppose most speaker makers were just thinking of Function and not Form. These Speakers get both elements right.
I bought these for two reasons, my roomie and his computer, and the guy across the floor with his speakers and Sub. First off, my roommate was a jerk and he'd come in while I was working and playing music on my puny Laptop speakers, turn on his music and blast me with some screamer or hardcore band. He had a blockish Sub that he could hide under his desk. The Guy across the floor on the otherhand, this guy took bass to new levels. There are forty some odd people living on this floor, I live in one corner, he lived on the EXACT OPPOSITE CORNER of the building, and I could FEEL his bass all the way over here, and I could hear it too.
These are the best speakers I've ever used by the way, they are impossible to set up wrong, since everything's color coded, and there are lights on the satellites that light up when they're hooked into the right jack. You can control volume via the right speaker or do what I do, turn the speakers up to full and just control everything through the Computer. I get a good range that way, for instance, level one is quiet enough that no one except me. Level four is about as loud as my laptops speakers can get, and since I don't have a roomie this year to worry about blasting me, I normally keep it around five or six. I can't turn them all the way up just cause they're so loud, six is only about a third of their power. The good news about that is even at the limits of what my ears can take (around twelvish) I can hear no distortion, and the professional reviewers say that even at the higest they go, they can't hear anything bad either.
I have an Apple iBook, so my computer is a "stylish" computer and these complement it wonderfully, just beautifully.
So these speakers are both very functional/powerful, and they are well designed to be shown off and not hidden under a desk. Buy them, love them, they are awesome!

Wow, not going to lie. I bought these speakers becuase a buddy of mine had them, and I couldn't live without. Sweet looking, incredibly small, great base and treble. I would buy these hands down over any other $50-60 dollar speakers on the market. Great buy!
