Digital camera reviews of JBL On Stage II Speaker and Docking Station for iPod (Black)Digital camera Review: JBL Speaker station for iPod Summary: 4 Stars
This product works really well. It has great sound and takes up very little space. The remote is a nice feature too. I don't think it would work too well in a large space, but for a bedroom or office it is ideal. I would recommend this item to someone looking for a dock/player/charger for their iPod.
Digital camera Review: JBL build quality, style and sound at a good price. Summary: 4 Stars
I'd recommend the JBL On Stage II for several reasons: the material and build quality along with the attention to detail; the unique, eye-catching saucer design along with a handy, sensitive remote switch; "tight" audio, with exceptionally crisp treble frequencies and adequately deep but not boomy bass.
The cons: Even though the bass is fuller and less distorted than on its smaller sibling, it lacks the convenience of the JBL On Stage Micro, which operates on both batteries and AC (moreover, the power adapter on the Micro is smaller and lighter); the On Stage II has been on the market for a while (2006) and is not fully compatible with recent Apple equipment (e.g. video transport for a Nano 3G or iPhone synching). It plays and charges my Nano 3g and Classic 160 gig but only plays my Touch 2g. In a pinch, it will work fine without the included adapters.
The JBL brand name (Harmon Int.), design and build quality may be worth a few extra dollars, but if audio quality is a primary consideration, the Athena iVoice sounds fuller, deeper, richer than the On Stage II. And if you don't require a remote control but would like the option of battery operation, the Cyber Acoustics iRhythms model for around 35 bucks operates on both batteries and AC and provides surprisingly full-frequencied, undistorted audio quality comparable to that of the On Stage II.
Digital camera Review: JBL-On Stage II - Speaker and docking station for iPod (Black) Summary: 4 Stars
The speakers are loud and clear, however it would have been nice to have a little more bass, but it is understandable that there is'nt much bass response given the small dimensions of the station. Overall, it has great styling and it sounds good. Lastly, for its 130 dollar price tag I thought it could have provided more bass.
Digital camera Review: Just What I wanted. Summary: 5 Stars
This speakers are just what I wanted. They have an excellent sound quality and very high volume. The remote is excelent and works almost everywhere, even when there are walls in between. Excelent product and good price.
Digital camera Review: Just what I wanted! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I wanted a way to listen to music in our sitting room without being obtrusive and this was a great solution. Small enough that it hides behind a picture frame, the JBL produces a sound big enough to fill our first floor but crisp enough to be clear at lower volumes. The sound is slightly reminiscent of Bose sound (less bass, more natural) and does not seem to suffer from distortion (so far). The remote is a handy feature, though like all things related to iPod it is tiny and I'm sure it will get lost too soon. Like other docks, the JBL does charge the iPod. However, compared to the Bose unit, this one seems smaller - I'm actually tempted to start bringing it to the office with me.
I would not consider using this as a main sound setup. Most desktop computer speakers can probably outperform this unit. But, for a low price, and for out of the way use, I absolutely recommend the On Stage. The JBL brand means that it is a quality speaker that will last.
