Digital camera reviews of JBL On Stage II Speaker and Docking Station for iPod (Black)

Digital camera Review: Best sound for small size
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this mainly to listen to in my medium sized bedroom, but found it also filled my larger living room with undistorted sound on most songs played at low to medium high volumes. Impressive crystal clear sound on vocal solos as well as great clarity on instrumentals featuring solo piano, flutes and harps. Fair sound on bass up to medium-high volume levels, but go past that and the bass distorts or may sound flat at lower volumes on certain songs. Only metal heads and those who crave a bass thump and generally blast most songs will be left wanting. I compared this side by side to a supposedly competitive product - Logitech's mm50 - and there's no contest. The mm50 achieved roughly half the volume level of the OnStage and sounded like a distorted transistor radio. I highly recommend the OnStage II if you are looking for a very small footprint (7" diameter takes up no space. base unit weighs one pound) with very impressive sound for the size consideration that's also aesthetically pleasing. JBL even went so far as to provide peel off black sticker covers to mask your iPod's white dock insert. At first I thought it was going to look chintzy but it blends in with the base unit color perfectly to obliterate all traces of the offending white insert. The super tiny RF remote works across the room and through obstacles. All around sweet deal.

Digital camera Review: Best speaker i've purchased so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the griffin amplifi, a set of ihome speakers and these. The on stage II win hands down. For their footprint they sound like they should be about five times the size. The best feature though is the dock adapter. Every other speaker system i've owned used their own dock adapters. While the onstage II comes with several, they actually use apple's standart universal dock adapter. This means these speakers will always be future proof, as long as apple doesn't make an ipod wider and thicker than the 4G 40GB iPod (which obviously will never happen).

Works with any dock adaptor iPod. I own a 3G Nano. I had to use the apple dock adapter, so it is white on black. Doesn't look too bad, like I said this feature is a plus.

I haven't spent too much time listening to it, had to warranty return my ipod (long story, its why i've had so many different speakers).

Another awesome feature is the dock adapter port on the speaker. You can sync and load new music on your ipod without having to remove it from the speaker. Five stars.

Digital camera Review: Decent purchase..
Summary: 4 Stars

It's goes pretty loud. I like the remote control. However my only issue is the bass, I love me some bass and it's lacking on this product. It's definately portable, as i bring it with me to the basketball gym and take it from room to room. I really like that part.. 4 stars just needs a lil more booommmmm if you listen to hip hop or hard rock you feel me.

Digital camera Review: Disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

I hear a noise, like an electronic vibration, when I use this speaker. The vibration is disruptive and makes listening to the iPod unpleasurable. Do not buy this speaker.

Digital camera Review: Docking Station is Perfect!
Summary: 5 Stars

The size of this docking station is perfect, the sound quality is very adequate for what I was looking for. The remote control has been a plus-however, it is small so we have to keep it in a consistent place. The unit is working out great!
