Picked it up in the Gold Box deals for 49.99 and couldn't be happier. It's a perfect little bedroom speaker, ideal for listening to background music. I wanted a small speaker for my bedroom and decided to get the JBL OnStage with iPod dock. It is excellent for my needs. The sound is surprisingly good for its size, the remote is basic but useful (but only useful if an iPod is in the dock), the controls on the unit are easy to use, and it works well with non-iPod players as well. I've used it with my laptop when watching DVDs for much better sound than my laptop speakers. I bought the red one because it was priced lower than the other colors but it is attractive and I find I enjoy the pop of color. The only negative I've found is the battery compartment door. It falls off very easily. I've been using the adapter but I imagine that could be a pain if you are using the JBL as a portable speaker.Digital camera Review: Not the same color as the 3rd gen (RED) Nano

I bought this as a gift for someone with a 3rd generation Nano. Unfortunately the On Stage Micro I received from Amazon was the old red color of the 2nd Generation Nano. I wouldn't be supprised if that's why it sells for half the price of the other colors.
Its not a big deal if you're not using it with a 3nd gen red iPod Nano, but it just looked like a knock-off since the reds didn't match.
The packaging only had pictures of the 2nd gen Nano on it.

I was looking for a good travel speaker. I needed something that took batteries but could also plug in and charge the iPod. I also didn't want to compromise on audio quality. While I'm not an "audiophile", I do look for excellent sound quality in my music.
Needless to say, the this little red speaker packs a nice punch. The sound was fantastic, it's easily portable (even come with it's own pouch) and you can connect it to other items, like your laptop, with the included adapter. The remote control was a nice touch, but unless you can read the small screen from across the room, it's really just for volume.
