Digital camera reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds -Onyx BlackDigital camera Review: Awesome headphones! Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: Everything
Cons: Can't hear your surroundings... Friends can sneak up on you...
I purchased these headphones after reading the reviews here and decided to take a chance of some higher quality headphones. The packaging that it came in was nice and when I plugged it up to my laptop, it made a world of difference compared my other generic headphones. The sound quality to me was excellent with no major gripes on tremble or bass. No metallic sound to any of the songs I tested and made listening to music more enjoyable. When I have these headphones on I could hardly hear anything else in the room even when the volume is slightly turned up. Friends seem to always sneak up on me when I have these on which is a con for me...
Highly recommended!
Digital camera Review: Awesome sonic quality BUT Horrible built quality Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this pair of earphones for 2 reasons:
1. Good reviews for sonic quality
2. Reinforced joints promises good built quality.
Granted, this pair of earphones do have an impressive set of drivers for this price range. The sound stage is wide and bass is deep and powerful.
However, after using the earphones for only 2 weeks, the cable housing broke right above the reinforced joints. Perhaps, forming such large support has placed pressure on the parts that are not reinforced.
I am very disappointed and am convinced that those reinforced joints are a mere marketing gimmick.
Digital camera Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
Had these for about a month and they work awesome, plus you can use the 'burn-in' program in the JLabs website, to basically break them in. The packaging was cool too, simple, and easy to dispose/open. SOund quality is awesome, the different size ear covers block out just enough sound to not hear a lot but still be able hear your name called. Over all the price was great the construction just works well with the product and I'm glad i bought them. Here's the burn-in thing from the website.

Digital camera Review: BUYER BEWARE - Average earphones blighted by construction and quality issues Summary: 2 Stars
I bought 2 pairs of these earphones a couple of months ago. Bottom line is - part with your money for a pair of these only if you want earphones that have a high chance of failing within 6 months of average usage.
I use these in my daily travel to and from work, and in the gym. Both earphones starting failing within 2 weeks of each other, 6 months after i bought them. I think this must be a quality problem because I see other reviewers having the same problem. Note that I don't even use the earphones heavily - only 1 hour a day?
Sound quality wise - I'll give it an average at best. Compared to reputable brands in the same price range (I've tried the Sennheiser CX300 and Altec Lansing UHP606), these sound pretty much similar. Compared to high-end earphones (I had a pair of Ultimate Ears 10) - the output from the jbuds are best described as muddy and fuzzied, but that is to be expected, given that my Ultimate Ears set me back by hundreds.
I won't go as far as to say that the Jbuds are horrible earphones, that'll be undeserved. I think they have a decent enough product, but something must be done to address the built quality issues (esp the problem about earphones failing after 6 months of usage). Until that is done, I cannont recommend these Jbuds over similarly priced earphones offered by competitors, and personally, I won't be picking up another pair of JBuds for a long time.
Digital camera Review: Baby These Buds, or Don't Buy Summary: 2 Stars
I bought JBuds in June of 2009, to replace the JVC buds that broke. I listen to my iPod at work, where it can be noisy. Some noise was blocked out, but if the noise was loud, I still couldn't hear the music. If it was already pretty quiet, the earbuds did pretty well at blocking noise. The sound blocking was no better or worse than with the cheaper ones.
I noticed a while ago that sometimes if I bent over or squatted, I only heard sound in one ear. Lately I had to keep adjusting the cord to keep the sound in both ears. Yesterday I had to hold the iPod a few inches away from me and adjust the cord, or the sound was garbled. If I even turned the iPod around to try hooking the case to my pants, the sound became garbled again. I can't work while holding my iPod, so I gave up on the earbuds. Luckily, I always carry the original set with me, so I used those instead. Those work, and the sound is much better than with the JBuds.
The JBuds were more expensive than the JVC's, so I expected better quality. I think the cheaper ones lasted longer, and didn't give me problems with the sound. Neither pair gave me the quality of sound I get with the earbuds that came with the iPod. I think I'll just stick with those until I can afford better quality earbuds.
I'm adding to this review. I e-mailed JLabs over a week ago. Since then, the only response I have gotten has been a comment to my original review, which must have been intended to give the illusion of customer service. I don't think JLabs has any intentions of replacing my defective earbuds. I would have e-mailed again, but JLabs seems to have taken away that option.
UPDATE: I found an e-mail address in the packaging, and tried again. This time JLabs did reply, and replace the earbuds.
