I've had this unit for a couple of years. It was handy for recording dvds directly from the JVC video camera. I don't need to edit video and wanted to avoid loading everything into a PC and then burning it. JVC uses a .mod video format that is not really user friendly for the computer illiterates. So the share station was a nice way of getting the video off the camera and onto dvds. It worked for a while. I probably burned about 60 disks. Recently it started giving me "incompatible disk" errors. I tried different brands and it still doesn't work. I hooked it up to the PC and got an I/O error message. I looked for a solution on the web and found that a number of people have had the same problem. JVC has no information on a solution on their site that I could find. So, I've got a camera that seems to work well, but don't have an easy way of getting the video off of it! I'd avoid this particular model and would double check the reviews of newer Share Station models before buying any.
