Digital camera Review: An excellent alternative to Bose

I purchased these headphones about 4 months ago and have used them now on multiple flights and also while mowing the lawn.
The headphones are very comfortable to wear. On one flight, I wore them for over 10 hours straight and at no time was uncomfortable.
The noise canceling on these is on par with the much more expensive Sony brand and slightly less effective than the Bose Quiet Comfort. While I have never used a Bose QC3 set on a plane, I have tested them in a store. I found their noise canceling ability is better than the JVC, but not worth the over $300 price tag.
Having a standard battery is a plus (compared to the proprietary battery used in the Bose). Battery life is much better than I expected, even at high volume.
The included cable is short but not unusable. The only reason I did not rate these 5 stars is due to the lack short cord and lack of in-line volume control.
As others have mentioned, it is also important to note that these do work "un-powered". So, if your batteries do run out; or you do not need noise canceling, they are perfectly usable.
The product has been so good, it seams they have realized they can even sell them for more. Even with the price increase, these are still the best bang for the buck noise cancelling headphones on the market today.

I bought these after reading the reviews. I had a pair of Sony's that were just not that good. I purchased these as I now travel internationally at least monthly. I used these on a trip to the UK and were so annoyed by the hum noise when I switched on the noise reduction I had to use in the off mode. Also, there is no volume control so everytime the PA came on your ears got blasted. Maybe only a certain population can hear the hum or maybe others have learned to accept it but I just couldn't deal with it. I stopped by the [...] store and tried the new QC 15 on for demo. This was like night and day. Yes, they cost 3X but [...] will charge your credit card interest free over either 6 months or 12 months and ship free. These JVC headphone are as advertised, and what you would want to have if you prefer pleasant air travel. It has very good sound quality and cancels out the outside noises well. I have taken it on flights and it is a joy to hear the clear and distinct sound of music from my MP3 player instead of the loud hum of jet engines pounding your ears. Easy to fold out from it's protective case, these JVC headphones feel just as easy on your head with soft cups around the ears that are comfortable and further muffle outside sounds. I just wish this model had a self-retracting cord like my older, but less effective JVC noise cancelling headphones. For $100.00 and the sound quality you get, Bose takes a back seat.

I've had these headphones for over a year now. I am a frequent traveler with over 100,000 miles of air travel since I purchased this product. Sound quality is good, espcially when you turn the unit on, bass quality is excellent. As for noise cancellation, there is a hissing and humming sound even when there is no background noise. You cannot wear this for more than an hour without adjustment because your ears will start to hurt. On ear headphones feature's flaw is that it makes your ears hot and painful after a few hours. Due to discomfort, I have not used this during my last 10 trips. Looking to purchase QC 15 as my next choice. If you are looking for average NC headset, this may work for you but stay away if you are looking for quality and comfort.Digital camera Review: Awesome headphones for the price

I just received these headphones today to replace my JVC in the ear set. What a difference in sound quality! I never cared much for headphones before because of comfort and adding more bulk to my travel bags. Although this will certainly add some more bulk, the case is sturdy and the size of the case is slim enough. But the sound, I can't get over it. I don't have much to compare them with but for the price this is a great deal.
I leave tonight on a trip and will see how good the noise-cancelling is, but I'm confident it will work fine. Also, the added airline adapter for those seats that use a dual plug is a plus.
