Digital camera reviews of JVC HANC250 Noise Cancelling Headphones - BlackDigital camera Review: Comfortable, Have worn these for 12 hours straight once. Summary: 5 Stars
I've had these headphones for over a year and half now, bought them for college and all the flying I've had to do going back and forth. This little set has been a life saver to me. Not big, fits with my luggage great and the amount of noise it blocks out on planes is outstanding. They still look almost new after almost everyday use usually for several hours[except for a few scratches from when I've dropped them(and I've dropped them A LOT)]
Pros-
1. The design of the actually headphones are amazingly comfortable, they don't apply a lot of pressure to your ears(and I've got a giant head) yet block outside sound quite well. I've watched 12 hours of TV on my laptop straight with this bad boy and my ears were fine after.
2. The angling of the headphones is great, about 15 degrees one way and 180 the other, so it adjusts to just about any ear angle.
3. Long noise canceling battery life(I forget to turn the Noise Canceling off after use and the battery is still going even 12 hours later, although that does drain it a lot)
4. Noise canceling is great on planes, I didn't know what I was missing until I took my first flight with this thing. The difference was astoundingly noticeable.
5. The headphones will fit just about any size head, I've stuck these on a tiny kid next to me and they fit his head great, and fit mine just as well with a few adjustments(I have a giant head, like giant)
6. Removable (standard 3.5) audio cable(people take this for granted)
7. Comes with a very useful carrying case, with adapters and everything, I stick my original cable in there for when I travel, and a longer cable (bought for like 3 bucks) by my desk.
8. most importantly, Sound quality. I've noticed a major difference between this and a Bose pair my friend has. I'm no sound expert but I know what sounds better to me and this one definitely took the cake on that one. I feel like I hear it all with this from music to TV shows.
9. Despite feeling flimsy, it's quite durable and flexible I've dropped it, stepped on it and done all sorts of terrible things with it and it still looks new despite a few scratches
Cons
1. It's noise canceling feature seems to amplify the volume as well as send out standing waves to block out outside noise. Sometimes I have to decrease the volume after turning the Noise Canceling on.
2. This is nitpicking, A short cord it's perfect for use on planes, but at my desk I found myself using an extension cord for a while, but recently just bought a longer cord and it works just as well.
Overall It's a great buy, and since it's lasted me a year and a half already I've already decided it's value to be great and I expect another 2 at least from this thing. I do not regret this purchase at all and unless JVC comes out with an update for this set of headphones and it's definitely better; I will surely re-buy this set after I break it for sure(I'm definitely gonna step on it again, it's just what I do)
Edit: several months later the leather cover on the padding on the right earphone started coming undone, it's kinda annoying; it should be replaceable since it's removable but I've yet to contact JVC about it, doesn't change my review though
Digital camera Review: Comfortable, good noise cancelling, good sound Summary: 5 Stars
Needed noise cancelling earphones for flights, so did my research and found most positive reviewes for these earphones. Also, visites shops and tried Bose and other brands. They are all different in some ways, but it is importnat that your earphones are COMFORTABLE to keep them on for hours, unfortunatelly you will know it only by trying.
So I bought these and never regretted (including flights from US to Europe and China). Bose use different technology and I like their sound very much, but I don't like the price. The HANC250 have well defined sound, are confortable, light enough, well designed, powerd by an AAA battery (which lasts for ever). Noise cancelling make the sound of the engines quite tolerable even if you are sitting on the back row. My wife liked them too and wants a pair for herself.
Digital camera Review: Comparison with Sony MDR-NC60 Summary: 5 Stars
After much deliberation, I bought both the JVC HANC250 and the Sony MDR-NC60 noise canceling headphones. I tried the Sony headphones in the airport at DFW, but I wasn't quite convinced that I should spend $199, especially with the much better price and free shipping on Amazon. Then I found the JVC headphones online, and they had great reviews, but I was pretty sure I wanted a full coverage earpiece, like the Sony's. I figured I should buy my girlfriend good headphones, too, so the obvious answer was buy both pairs, then decide who gets which pair, or send one pair back.
Here's the summary: The Sony's have a couple of features that the JVCs don't, and I do indeed like the full earcup, but the JVCs have a little better sound quality, and they are surprisingly lightweight. I also like the JVC case better, as it is a bit smaller and seems to offer more protection. Ultimately, I like the Sony set enough to keep it, but if I had to buy only one set I'd probably purchase the JVCs.
Both seem to offer about the same amount of noise cancellation, although I've only tested them in a loud car on the freeway, not on an airplane yet. I like the battery door on the Sony set, and I like the "monitor" button that mutes your source input while it's being pressed, so that you can hear somebody talking to you.
Both sets are well made, and seem to be durable quality units, with a slight edge going to Sony. The sound quality difference I mentioned is best described as the JVCs having tighter bass, and a slightly clearer high end. It's not much of a difference, but noticeable. They are both so much better than the iPhone earbuds that I shouldn't even mention the earbuds in the same review!
Overall, you won't go wrong with either product, and I hope my review helps.
Digital camera Review: Complete Failure. Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the headsets in September of 2010. They worked for about one month and began to screech terribly after about a month. The noise reduction was minimal and you could barely tell they were turned on prior to the start of the screeching. Overall these are not worth the money at all. I'll be contacting JVC to see if they will replace them, I don't have much of an option other than that. I should have bought the Bose!
Digital camera Review: Complete Satisfied with this headphones Summary: 5 Stars
Great sound and very good Noise cancelling. I used to have the Bose headphones and I can say that the JVC HANC250 headphones are cheaper and almost gives the same quality sound and noise cancelling than the Bose headphones. Highly Recommended.
