To make MP3 and WMA playback more informative, JVC added ID3 tagging, which lets users read the artist and track data on the front readout. And should listeners tire of CDs, they can turn to the dual full-logic cassette deck--which offers both playback and recording--or the digital AM/FM tuner.

Audio-wise, the MX-KC45 stands ready to blow the roof off. Each speaker comes with a 6.31-inch cone woofer, a 2-inch dome midrange, and a 0.81-inch dome tweeter, which combine to produce a crisp, full-bodied audio soundstage. The system also offers JVC's Sound Turbo function, which intensifies the sound at the touch of a button. Need to pump up the volume for your backyard party or basement funk fest? Look no further than Sound Turbo.

Listeners with large digital music collections, meanwhile, will dig the front auxiliary input and USB PC link. The auxiliary input lets you connect an iPod, personal MP3 player, or other portable music device to the MX-KC45, so you can share all your favorite playlists with friends and without headphones. The USB link works in much the same manner, except it connects to your PC or Mac and gives you access to the music stored on your hard drive.
