Digital camera reviews of Jabra SP5050 Bt Speakerphone

Digital camera Review: Don't buy it
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this product based upon the excellent reviews it received. Unfortunately, in the real world its just not even close to what you would expect. The volume is just too low, even when set to max. I could not even tell when people answered the phone. If I had to do it over again I would get one of those units that work through the car speekers.

Digital camera Review: Easy operation but not loud enough!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have two of these - one in my wife's Passat and the other in my Tundra Limited truck. Great operation with my wife's and my iPhones as well as my Moto Razr phone. Pairing is a piece of cake and the feature of the phone re-pairing after being turned on works flawlessly. The battery saving feature where it shuts off automatically also works great.

This product would be 5 stars in my book if the volume was louder. Note that volume *level* is controlled by either the phone or the unit, but the volume *output* is limited by the unit' amp and speaker. For all but the absolute quietest situations, the volume is simply not loud enough for reliable use in a car. Even sitting on my desk as a speakerphone, the volume is insufficient if there is any level of background noise.

Noise canceling and sound quality (from my callers' perspective) is very good, but unfortunately, both of these units were a waste of my money because they are really only barely usable in a car setting. Both my wife and I have switched to headsets for use in the car - much less convenient, but much better audio quality.

For some reason I cannot change the # of stars I originally assigned, but it should be a two-star product, not 4 stars...

Digital camera Review: Easy to Use and great design
Summary: 4 Stars

I found this product simple to use and effective. The Bluetooth pairing with my Samsung Blackjack was easy and connected on the first try. I use this while on the road either between meetings of on the commute with conference calls. The battery life seems very good and sound quality is also good on both ends. I am able to pair the system by simply turning the unit on and it finds the phone without issue. I have noted that at highway speeds this can be a little hard to hear so placement is important. The design is slim and fits in very well on the visor. I don't link the ear-bud headsets so this is a great alternative since my car lacks integration with the phone. Good product.

Digital camera Review: Easy to use with bad audio
Summary: 3 Stars

I've used this unit for about a week on my daily commute with my Samsung Upstage which has the bad habit of being too loud for voice dial and too quiet when a person is on the phone. I'd hoped the speaker phone would help the problem. I could only hear the person on the other end if the speaker is on maximum volume, which makes dialing almost unbearable it is so loud.

While this is a bit of a problem with headsets I've owned, it's never been as bad as with this speaker phone. The volume for voice calls is still too quiet. While this may be attributed more to the phone, I've never had a hard time understanding callers with headsets.

Other than that, synchronizing the phone was incredibly easy and making calls only takes the push and hold of the button.

Because of the sound issues though, the Jabra has been returned.

Digital camera Review: Easy to use, easy to set-up.
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used this for about 6 months now and love it. It works without thinking. The sound quality is a good as a cell phone, and works with one hand. (duh). You never have to look at it, the lights are unobtrusive and can be turned off.

I even bought one for a friend.

NOTE: This unit is apparently discontinued. The low prices you will find will most likely be what the vendors call bulk packaging. You will get a device and charger in a zip lock baggie. This may or may not be new. they say it is but having been in retail, I suspect that the manufacturer returns are cleaned and shipped this way to retailers. Works fine and is cheap. You should be aware however. May come without returns allowed. I bought one new and the second was the zip lock.

At least the zip lock can be reused for you stash...
