I've now gone through 5 different audio cassette adapters, made by Sony, Belkin, Panasonic, Maxell, and Jensen. So far, the Jensen is my pick as the overall best choice for me. The reason I kept looking is the first several ones I bought had problems -- either my car cassette deck randomly ejected them for no reason, or the volume level was so low that I had to crank up the volume on both my MP3 player and car stereo. And of course, when the cassette deck would eventually eject the thing without reason, my car radio would come on at full blast!
So for those interested, here are my finding with my particular MP3 player (iriver 795) and cassette player (acura integra):
Sony -- plenty loud, but randomly ejects occasionally. Sound quality okay.
Belkin -- too quiet, and randomly ejects frequently. Sound quality may be the best overall, but it also has (by far) the loudest mechanical noise from the cassette.
Panasonic -- too quiet, and randomly ejects frequently. Sound quality okay.
Maxell -- not quite as loud as the Sony & Jensen, and the sound seems bass-heavy.
Jensen -- plenty loud, and sound quality is acceptable. Cassette deck never randomly ejects it, and no mechanical noise.
I think there still is some room for improvement in the sound quality area for the Jensen, but with all the other factors, it seems like the best compromise.
