Digital camera reviews of Jensen JHT525 5.1 Home Theater Speaker SystemDigital camera Review: Decent $50 speakers Summary: 3 Stars
3 stars for the decent value at $50.
I own ALOT of useless speakers that are dirt cheap so I'll compare the Jensons to those.
Against my old $140 klipsch promedia 4.1 computer speaker set the Jenson sounds muddy and boxed up. These Jensons absolutely fail in terms of providing a sound stage. The imaging is extremely poor. The quality difference is just night and day. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the quality of my Klipsch Promedia(I'm not saying my klipsch are a 10, but it provides a reference for comparison here), here's how it would look.
$149 klipsch Promedia - 10
$90 Altec Lansing ACS 48 - 9
$199 Onkyo HTIB 290 - 7
$49 Jenson JHT525 - 4.5 maybe 5
Comes with Dell system cheap Altec brand stereo speakers at work - 3
Comes with Dell system cheap Dell brand stereo speakers at work - 2
Cheapo 5.1 Colby system - 2
$49 No brand 2.1 PC speakers won at online auction in 1998 - 1
I don't see how people would compare these Jensons to Bose unless...will I don't want to get into that. At $49, I would say these Jenson provides a decent 5.1 experience if you just want to experience the effects of 5.1. I'll probably pair these with an old receiver and use it in a spare room. I might even put them in the living room as they are extremely small.
Pro: Cheap. Small. They can be driven to fairly lound levels. As a matter of fact, the level they can be driven to without distortion is impressive for speakers so small. Comes with a decent sub. I was lucky enough to buy these dirty cheap for $25. If I had to do it again, I would. For $49...maybe. There might be alot of 2.1 $49 computer speakers out there thats sound better, but you won't find a 5.1 system anywhere at this price.
Con: Sound quality is mediocre
