Digital camera reviews of Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG 12mm 20mm and 36mm Tubes for Canon EOS AF Digital and Film Cameras - AEXRUBEDGC

Digital camera Review: Extension tubes
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used these extension tubes now for over a month and I love them. I have to figure out which one for the different lenses I have but they work great.

Digital camera Review: Fantastic results for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

These Kenko auto extension tubes have been a joy for me to use. I have had them for several months now and have taken hundreds of Macro photographs with them using all of my normal and telephoto lenses. I have a Canon XSi and they work perfectly with the electrical copper path of the auto focus. That said, you will get better results with your macro photography by manually focusing anyway. Digital camera Review: Good extension tubes. Bit pricey.
Summary: 4 Stars

In short, it is a great product. Perfect for anyone interested in Macro photography. But be aware of what the product is capable of doing. Each ring added between the lens and the camera sensor reduces

1. the minimum focusing distance and
2. the light coming through the lens (almost 1-2 stops of light based on number of tubes used).

This makes the tubes simply an excellent replacement for an expensive macro lens.
With the canon 70-200mm L lens the minimum focusing distance is approximately 2 meters or 10 feet, so this lens is not capable of any macro photography by itself. By using all three tubes you can get as close as 3 inches from the subject.

The build quality of the product is very good and feels solid.

I have only 2 cons to list for the tubes.
1. Does not come with a carrying case or pouch or cleaning cloth. Have to be careful to keep the tubes clean as this is mounted directly on the camera. any dust inside the tubes are sure to reach the sensor.
2. I honestly think these are a bit pricey. Since the tubes have no glass in them I dont see a good reason for them to be $169 (as of 15 Nov 2009). So I dont think the product is of good value considering the cost. I would value them at $100 at best.

Digital camera Review: Good tubes - snug fit
Summary: 4 Stars

The Tubes do what they say and work well on my 40D. The fit to attach/remove them is very snug but it does not bother me that much.
Good buy if you don't have macro lenses.

Digital camera Review: Great Accessory
Summary: 5 Stars

As a person who recently in December switched from a point and shoot to a DSLR i was at a lost for a good macro solution. Do not get me wrong there are many macro lenses and options out there but I am currently a college student so money can be a little low at the best of times. So when I found these tubes I was thrilled! After some research into them I decided to make the purchase and I have been very pleased with the results!!! This and the 50 mm 1.8 lens by canon go very well with each other, as well with the 55-200mm EF-S lens. They can produce very good results with little effort. So if you are looking for a cheap way to pull off some professional looking macro i would highly recommend these tubes!!
