Digital camera Review: Again Kensington & Amazon hit a home run!
Summary: 4 Stars

Potential customers need to read this review. This FM transmitter with Ipod charger does exactly as advertised. You spend a little money and end up with a product that actually works. My only suggestion is that Kensington make this product available with an on/off switch in the future so you do not have to unplug it if your power source is not controlled through the ignition switch. Making a quick trip inside a store is no problem but don't forget to unplug it overnight. This may cause some wear to the products plug in the future. Applying a light coat of an oil to the metal parts only of the plug may help. I have not tried this yet but will soon. The on/off switch could be located on the left side of the module to allow easy thumb access. With this said lets review the product.

After listening to this product with only minor modifications to your input recording levels, depending on the music, will allow for wonderful playback volume control. I have to admit that I'm at the beginners level with my Ipod nano and music reproduction is on the way to becoming better continuously. While driving in areas with many frequency disruptors it became clear that this product maintains a good FM signal response with only very minor distortion. I own a 2004 Ford Expedition and the antenna is located in the right rear window and reception was a concern but no longer is a factor. The transmitter puts out plenty of frequency to hide any overlapping FM signals as well. After the initial set up, which only takes minutes, is complete you do not even need to look at the LCD screen anymore. Just memory lock the three signal selections on your radio buttons and transmitter in sequence from left to right and your done. Just looking at the radio and depressing the correct button on the transmitter is sufficient. I can still read the display fine anyway. Sun glasses have a distorting effect on the LCD read out but this is normal if looking at it at an angle to the screen. You will like the fact that when you plug into the Ipod that it comes on automatically and all you have to do is depress play on the Ipod and that when unplugging the transmitter the Ipod remembers where you left off with your music. You will like the ability to transfer from one car to another effortlessly and the ability to charge your Ipod with the car instead of just the computer. So in my opinion this product works great as is but if Kensington offers one like this with a power on/off switch in the future I will buy it to upgrade. I really believe anyone that buys this product will be happy with the performance.

ordered 2 of these also, my daughter and I both love them. They work great in convert music to our car's stereo system.

Digital camera Review: As good as all the reviews say it is

Great reception. Easy to use. Agree that reading the station can be challenging at times.

Digital camera Review: Audio repro not even close...

So..I'm new to Ipods and had to try hooking it up with an FM transmitter in my car to replace my trunk-mounted cd changer which died. Rather than replacing the changer for $500, the Ipod could be a great alternative. The car is a BMW with an excellent sound system.

Based upon the reviews on this site, the 31999 was THE one to get. Better than other Kensingtons, better than other brands, etc. So I got one, plugged it in and it fired up like a charm. Setting to a station is a snap and, if you can find a channel without static, it connects seamlessly.

But in the Boston area, it was hard to find an available frequency without static. Once I did, there was a constant hissing once the Ipod connected. Furthermore, if you can get past the hissing, the high end of the vocals slurred and distorted..."s"es sound like "esh"s, and it just wasn't enjoyable listening to poor audio.

So, if you're a discriminating listener, and are looking for good audio quality, an FM connection with this device is not the way to go. And if this product is the best available in 11/07, perhaps the next generation of devices will be superior. But I bought the product to enjoy listening to music as I had before, and the problem is there's just too much audio quality lost in substituting an FM signal for a hard-wired cd changer.

This thing is great. The pre-sets on it is great and the black one looks awesome. Don't really like the LCD lite though.
