If you don't want to spend big money on a Logitech TrackMan Marble FX Trackball, or don't have a PS2 port for one, then consider this Orbit Trackball with Scroll Ring from Kensington. It's a close 2nd place in ergonomics to the TMM FX, especially with its page scroll ring, and it works immediately with no need for driver installation (at least on MS Windows). Just out of the box the ball spins with a slightly "scratchy"/"sticky" feel for about an hour, but then smooths to silk.
