Digital camera Review: Beware counterfeit drives!

I purchased this drive from one of Amazon's sellers. It arrived in a small red package with some Chinese characters printed on the front and back. The model number, DT100/32GB, and the Windows Vista logo were not printed. Unlike my other Kingston DataTraveler, the product number was not etched onto the retractable silver tab.
The drive itself was junk. When I first plugged it in, Windows showed the stick had a full 32GB free. Any properly formatted drive should be smaller than its actual capacity. Despite several attempts, I could not re-format it to FAT32 or NTFS. Some internet research revealed that these are symptoms of a possibly counterfeit drive. A call to Kingston's 24/7 tech support verified that any drive without a model number etched onto the retractable silver tab is a fake.
