Digital camera reviews of Kingston DataTraveler I - 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTI/16GB

Digital camera Review: So far so good
Summary: 5 Stars

The large size of this thumb drive is very convenient for large files. No problem whatsoever!

Digital camera Review: Can't boot from 16GB drive
Summary: 2 Stars

The 16GB Kingston drive will not boot Linux (but just produces BIOS errors), although 4GB and 8GB versions have worked well for this. The first time this happened, I thought the unit was defective, but a replacement behaves the same way.

I've been installing Ubuntu to these drives using Pendrivelinux and booting on Thinkpads.

Digital camera Review: exellent!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Used it the same day i got it, handy little flash drive,no problems to date, i will recommend this to any one. By the way it is worth the money

Digital camera Review: for about the same prices as UFD I can buy SATA II for USB
Summary: 2 Stars

sure HDD not pocket sized like UFD, but hitachi/seagate/wd current performance drives are about a gig for this price and are FASTER for sneakernet... and play well with my STB dvd/xvid/mp4 player.

Since this was a gift.. meh. I only by lexar/corsair/OCZ high speed UFD

Digital camera Review: can't get it to work with HP computer
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this flash drive. It's pretty quick both reading and writing large WAV and text files, both of which I do often. However, for some reason, I have an HP desktop computer and this drive just refuses to work in it. The computer recognizes the drive, begins the process of downloading and then the computer freezes, the flash drive disappears in the Computer screen in Win 7, and then it's finished. If I unplug the drive and reinsert it, it recognizes it, I begin the download and the same process happens all over. Very frustrating. This is actually a HP problem, because this flash drive works in three other computers with a range of configurations: All Win 7, but one AMD desktop computer, one Intel desktop computer, and one Lenovo laptop. On those computers, this drive works pretty fast and always flawlessly.

So, in essence, the flash drive is great. Using it in a HP computer is not great (at least my HP model.) Took off one star only because of that. Otherwise, would give it five stars. With some HP tech support help, (tried once with no success) I may be able to figure out what the conflict is.
