Digital camera reviews of Kingston DataTraveler I - 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTI/16GBDigital camera Review: Great item, but doesn't play well with Vista. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this item a couple of weeks ago as a replacement for a Kingston 4GB flash drive I mislaid on a trip. It seems to do its job very well, but I'm having quite a fight with it in just one respect. I've installed the LiberKey suite of applications, and every time I plug the flash drive into my work's Vista computer, the 'read-only' state switches to 'read-only'. I can uncheck the box as often as I like, but each time it changes itself back. Now it seems to do the same even when I attach the drive to an XP computer. Vista has tainted my flash drive! If anyone has any helpful ideas as to what I can do to reverse this (I've formatted the drive several times, to no avail), I'd love to hear them.
Digital camera Review: Great product and price is right Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this today and all three of my laptops recognized it right away (IBM, Sony, Toshiba, NT Pro, Vista 32 and Vista 64). The cover is plastic but quite sturdy. It is not cheap looking at all. I do not put this on my keychain so I don't know how well it work. I lost my keys too often...haha. In my opinion, this one with cover works better than the retractable one because I have to plug and unplug it often. It also keeps the dust out of the way when not in use. The retractable one cannot take this kind of abuse every day.
The 16GB is a good size and will get the 32GB when the price comes down. It is still a little expensive. The read is instant and the write rate take a little longer but acceptable. It can copy a 2.5GB file in 3 minutes using my 4 year old IBM NT Pro laptop. The write rate improve with my newer labtops that has more RAM and faster processor. This is a solid product with a great price tag (lowest 16GB USB so far) and would recommed it.
Digital camera Review: Great product for the price Summary: 5 Stars
This flash drive is truly one of the better ones i have had. I needed one for my computer science class i was taking and figured i would buy a new one just for that class. It has been nothing but the best since i have been using it. It has fast response times when saving and accessing files and it looks cool, i just wish it came in different colors than the dark red color i got. Other than the color of it, i have no complaints.
Digital camera Review: Great product, best price Summary: 4 Stars
I like this 16 GB flash drive and found it to be the best priced for the data size.
Digital camera Review: Great upgrade from a 1gig Summary: 5 Stars
I love this drive. We have multiple Kingston DataTravelers that we use at work (computer repair) and they have all worked wonderfully. I love the color as well. The cap has stayed on pretty tightly after regular use for the last few weeks. Drive transfers pretty fast, works well for portable applications, and the light on it isn't blinding like many other drives. Its just a nice low intensity green.
16gigs is perfect for transferring movies and project files from computer to computer. I really trust the durability and lifetime of these drives since im still using a 128mb version since its been out. The price is even great (cant believe i spent $90 on a 1gig just a few years ago).
If your looking for a new flash drive you can trust, go with this one.
