Digital camera reviews of Kingston DataTraveler I - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DTI/8GBDigital camera Review: Dead after six months Summary: 1 Stars
I've used Kingston drives before - with terrific luck. I needed something a bit larger than what I have to carry podcasts, photos and documents between various computers. When this went on sale during an Amazon deal, I snapped it up.
The drive was a little slow at times, but always worked - until I really needed it a week ago. Then, the drive went bad. I tried it in three computers, just to be sure - two Macs and one PC. The drive was invalid and all the documents were lost.
It was just six months after the purchase date. I don't expect electronics to last more than a few years, but just a few months? That is bogus.
As I look to purchase another flash drive, I'll seriously consider other brands.
Digital camera Review: Decent Flash Drive for the money Summary: 4 Stars
I was looking for a high speed flash drive to be use in my Sony Blu-ray BDP-S350 player and the Amazon search returned this Kingston DTI/8GB. I read others' reviews with how fast this was. However, after receiving this item, I wanted to see if this was a high speed flash drive so I did a timed test. I transfer a 351Mb file from my laptop to this drive in 1 min 10 secs while the transfer time to a Dane-Elec 8GB zMate Pen High-Speed (Up to 480mbps super-fast transfer rate ) was 1 min 16 secs. I bought this from Amazon for $17.87 while the Dane-Elec was $11.90.
If you really want a true Kingston high speed flash drive, it's the DataTraveler 400 model not this one.
Digital camera Review: Definitely satisfied Summary: 5 Stars
I am very happy that I kept looking for this flash drive because I am truly happy to not have gotten it for a cheaper price it has saved me tones of cd's...
Digital camera Review: Delivers as promised Summary: 4 Stars
Worked flawlessly right out of the package with my Mac (after a quick reformat.) Should work equally as well on a PC.
Digital camera Review: Dependable Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this now for several years. I must say that without giving it much thought, this drive is dependable. For at least a couple of years I have used this drive for work and play. Constantly transferring files. It has been used with all kinds of software interfaces. It even worked great as a Xbox 360 memory card. I had a lot of thumb drives. If it is important information though, I will depend on this one.
