Digital camera reviews of Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphones (Black)

Digital camera Review: ...and then I live with this pair of earbuds, happily ever after
Summary: 5 Stars

It started about two years ago. I bought a new mp3 player, and according to just about everyone on ye olde interweb, I should ditch the earbuds that came with it and buy something better. I started out with JVC's marshmallow, really felt the huge difference, and couldn't help but wonder what those expensive earbuds can do...

And, before I knew it, I had amassed three pairs of earbuds in my drawer, and was holding the shiny new S4 in my hand. That was a year ago,

As the title suggested, the story comes to a happy ending here.

So then, let the actual review begin.

The sound is pure heaven. 'nuff said. Let's move on to other departments.

The oval eartips design provides exceptional fit, in my ear at least. They do go very deep into your ear canals, so it may take a little getting used to, and may not fit everyone. For instance, my roommate claims that he can't get them to go into his ears at all. (Although I suspect that he's just afraid and didn't make even the slightest of the effort to push them in...)

Noise isolation is extremely good. When the music is on, I see people facing me, moving their mouths, but can't hear a thing they say until I take them off.

It seems that the S4 is really meant to be worn with cables over your ears. If you just wear them straight, they fall out of your ear relatively easily, and the cord noise can get irritating at times. But if you wear them "upside-down" and loop the cables over your ear, the cord noise is all but eliminated, and the extra support makes sure that the buds stay in your ear indefinitely.

The cables do look flimsy, but I am happy to report that they are quite strong. Not being the most careful person on this planet, I have subjected the cables to numerous accidental toughness tests, and they holds up fine after one year.

My only real complain is that the cables really tangle up quite a lot.

Digital camera Review: 2 months later and I love them
Summary: 5 Stars

I received these as a requested birthday gift at the end of October. I listen to many different genres of music, from hip-hop to classical, as well as various podcasts and spoken word broadcasts. I chose these after doing some research on in ear headphones, and as many others came across the review on CNet. One issue which I have had with in ear designs has been fit. I have never been able to find an affordable model that was both comfortable and would stay in my ear. I wouldn't call myself a high end audiophile, but I have a good prosumer system and a classical music background.

Ratings:
The sound quality on these is very good. They are crisp and clear, presenting a neutral soundstage. Highs are not harsh, lows are not overly accentuated. Detail is clear, and you really appreciate early stereo recordings (Beatles) that played with left/right transitions.

For me comfort was crucial. I will be using these primarily while commuting on the train about 2 1/2 hours a day. I wanted noise reduction as well, but wasn't willing to pay the price for an active NR feature. The silicon earpieces in these have more than met my needs across the board. Once you establish which size you need to wear (they come with 3) just insert and listen. The seal and material do a good job of filtering outside sounds, but don't negate entirely. Don't purchase if you specifically want noise reduction as they are passive. I wear them not only while commuting, but also to bed at night and have fallen asleep with them inserted on many occasions. They almost disappear from your ears.

All told I think that these are a great bargain for the price and performance, and have recommended them to a few friends already.

Digital camera Review: 2nd best ive ever used
Summary: 4 Stars

its a great set of headphones but for half the price you can get apple in ears (not the 2nd gen with the remote they arent as good as the old one) which are so far the best set of in ear headphones ive heard for the money. i got all excited when i saw how great people were reviewing these but when i got them i found that theyre just not as good as my 1st gen apple in ear headphones. sound quality is nice but the apples have better bass and even more noise reduction. the only thing i like about these more is the way they feel in your ears. the image s4 is a great set of headphones but for half the price i recommend buying the apple in ears. NOT THE ONES WITH THE REMOTE in my search for headphone bliss i bought both the old and new version of the apple in ears and the old one is much better and it only cost 35 bucks on here.
i was extremely surprised when i put these in and i hear a faint buzzing in certain guitar parts (i listen to a lot of metal so i tested them on a periphery track) and then put the apple in ear headphones in and it went away. theyre almost as good as the apple phones which is saying a lot but they just dont quite handle heavy music or even bump rap as well.

Digital camera Review: 5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The new Klipsch S4 ear buds are incredible. The sound they produce is beautifully balanced, with the legendary sound that only Klipsch can produce. I've had a pair of Bose ear buds, and their larger studio style headphones, and neither comes close to offering the fantastic sound quality that these give. Plus, for me, they are the most comfortable ear buds I have ever had. Recently returned from a trip to Italy, which had a flight time of 14 hours or so. Left them in my ears the entire time and my ears never complained once. They are a dream. The beautiful sound just goes right into your ears. Unfortunately I know that not everyone has the same experience as I did. One of my good buddies bought a pair, and he doesn't think they are all that comfortable. Very sad. For me, they are perfect.
One thing to note, people often think their headphones sound crappy because they don't play with the equalizer settings, and realize the quality of the source. If you don't play with your eq settings, these headphones sound mediocre. Trust me... play with your eq and find your happy place. These buds can seriously deliver whatever you want your music to sound like. Also, MP3s sometimes are very good quality sources. These headphones will expose just how poorly your MP3s are either recorded, or encoded. Use them with high quality sources, and you are bound for a phenemenol experience.
JUST BUY THEM! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Digital camera Review: :(
Summary: 2 Stars

Bass is no different from my $20 Target earphones, cord quality is bad. Sound quality is nice & crisp, but not a dramatic difference or enough to make it worth the $80. :(
