Digital camera reviews of Klipsch iGroove SXT iPod Sound System (Black)Digital camera Review: Five star quality sound for iPods, but not iPhone 3G friendly Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this sound system in December 2007. It was a replacement for a JBL OnStage. The sound was deeper and richer. It fills a room despite it's small size. Bass is what you would expect from a system this size, but it's no competitor for a true sound system with dedicated bass.
I've used this unit with my iPod Nano, iPod Video, and iPod Touch with no problems in sound quality and features. The unit also charges those products through an internal firewire connection.
Using the unit with the iPhone 3G has problems. First, because the iPhone is a cellular device, it produces noticeable interference unless you switch the iPhone into Airplane Mode, which turns off Wi-Fi and cell phone features. My iPod Touch did not produce interference from the Wi-Fi so I'm assuming it's only coming from the cellular connection. Second, the iPhone 3G removed the internal firewire connection, so the Klipsch system does not charge the iPhone 3G because charging is only accomplished through the USB connection. Other than those two problems, music plays fine through the Klipsch system.
One thing that could have made the product better was to have an RF remote instead of IR. I use this product at work and the use of fluorescent lighting limits the range of the remote to just a few feet within line of sight.
Digital camera Review: For it's size...you can't get much better sound Summary: 5 Stars
For costing 1/3 of the Bose, you can't go wrong with the iGroove. Pretty decent sound that fills a medium size room. Liked it so much, we bought a second one.
Digital camera Review: Good Bass and Good Volume!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This Klipsch have a good sound and good bass, is ideal for a small-medium apartment!!! and never put this Sound System nearly on a LCD TV, because the IR don't Work!!!
Digital camera Review: Good deal at the current price Summary: 4 Stars
Pretty decent sound, but not necessarily representative of what I'd expect from Klipsch. If I'd paid $150 or more, which was the price when it was originally released a year or so ago, I wouldn't be very happy, but for about $75, it's well worth the money. Also very nice looking.
Digital camera Review: Good design, very bassy Summary: 3 Stars
I had purchased the Altec Lansing inMotion iM5 from Amazon for $50 a while back but between the intermittent popping sound between tracks and tinny sound, I decided to get another dock/speakers and chose the Klipsch iGroove SXT based on Klipsch's reputation and the unit's reviews on Amazon. The iGroove SXT sounds much more warm and deep but lacks highs but it's still an improvement over the iM5. Great design (I prefer black to the white of the iM5)that allows the sound to be more widely dispersed than the iM5. The iGroove SXT does not have video composite out or subwoofer out (which it doesn't need anyway) like the iM5. I never use the unit's remote.
Since I'm still not completely happy with the sound, I'm wondering if I should have just bitten the bullet and bought the B&W Zeppelin, but I haven't had the opportunity to listen to one to see if the $600 price is justified.
