Digital camera reviews of Kodak EasyShare C180 10.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.4 inch LCD - RedDigital camera Review: A good and easy camera Summary: 4 Stars
The only bad thing about this camera if you buy sight unseen (in person) is that it is thicker than I would prefer. Nonetheless, it is still very portable. light, is quick, takes very nice photos, and is intuitive. Digital cameras have come a long way and the fact there many 10MP cameras out well under $100 is awesome. I have a Canon Rebel Xti and no a camera like this C180 will compare but I don't think any point and shoot will. I have also owned 2 Canon point and shoots - both had the LCD die over time. I also had a Nikon Coolpix, and it was way too slow which caused poor picture quality as well, hence soon sold it. So these little Kodaks I think are well worth it when compared to the other major brands. If you want a thinner camera, I suggest the M340, I would of paid the extra $15 for that.
One odd but good thing, photos shot at full resolution 3664 x 2748 come in at only 1.6mb whereas my Canon Rebel (also 10mp) shoots 2592 x 3888 but each photo is much bigger = 3.8mb.
The HD photos on this C180 are a misnomer. They are actually wide angle, panoramic photos which can only be shot at 7.6 megapixels - which is fine but not what is advertised.
It has video, but buy a video camera if you want to shoot videos. I don't know about the Kodak EasyShare software, it is not a selling point for me since Picasa has been around.
Digital camera Review: Awesome little camera! Summary: 4 Stars
Great little camera!! Pictures are fantasic! The only kind of picture that I haven't been thrilled with are nighttime pics (but it could be user-error).
Digital camera Review: Camera Summary: 4 Stars
Camera is fine. But batteries fail quickly. Had to replace already. Pictures are good.
Digital camera Review: Chuck it & get a Canon Summary: 1 Stars
For this amount of money, you can get a Canon with much better quality. The Kodaks have light leaks so when pointed perpendicular to the sun, you get red blobs. The Kodaks shoot 640x240 & upscale it. There's no manual control of anything. Picture quality sux. Video encoding sux. Red blobs suck.
Digital camera Review: Constant problems with it Summary: 1 Stars
I've gone through 2 of them and both had serious problems.
The 1st one lost a color channel and quit taking usable pictures while on a vacation in Europe. Luckily I had a spare camera. Even while it was working many, many times it would NOT TURN ON when I pressed the power button. Other times it would simply stop functioning while taking pictures. Once I got back from that vacation, I replaced it with an identical unit.
Now the replacement has the same power problems - it freezes in the middle of taking pictures and at times simply does not turn on.
If this camera would simply function properly, I'd give it a decent rating. It's features are ok and it's fairly portable - which is what I wanted from this.
I'm taking the 2nd one back and demanding a refund this time and would advise all to avoid this one.
