Digital camera reviews of Kodak Easyshare M863 8.2 MP Digital Camera with 3xOptical Zoom (Red)Digital camera Review: Very Nice Camera for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased my camera just before Christmas and love it. Like another reviewer, I had problems with the majority of my pictures having a grainy look especially when I transferred them to a PC. This was resolved by going to Kodak's website and obtaining help via their live chat session. With the camera in Auto mode press the Menu button and go to the 2nd camera icon (with the + sign). Arrow down to ISO Speed and select ISO 800. I took a picture, transferred it to my PC and the image was very clear (no grainy look). I'm not sure if this is a permanent save. You may have to do this each time the camera is turned off.
Digital camera Review: Very decent camera for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I have been looking for a camera for the last few months for a upcoming trip, and managed to find this one for cheap. Most 8MP cameras usually go for about $100+ bucks, so paying nearly half that was a steal.
The camera itself is very lightweight and small, about the size of a credit card and about the same size as a man's wallet. I'm not a expert photographer, so my main goal for this camera was to get decent pictures and video for a low price.
The camera itself does a decent job of taking pictures with decent amount of sunlight, although it does start to have issues when going into darker areas. The good thing is there are multiple modes to reduce blur and take pictures in different climates (Snow, Beach, etc). The interface is easy to use, and does not require much thought on the user. You can also adjust the picture quality so you can take more pictures, although any mode below 6MP looks pretty bad.
Storage is very limited on the camera, so you can only take a few shots before the internal memory is full (about 10MB, which is barely enough for 10 8MP shots, and 40 1MP shots). SD cards are a must, with the 1GB SD card being able to store about 870 8MP shots.
The video quality is decent for a camera this cheap. You can either do 320 x 240 mode with 30FPS or 640 x 480 with 15FPS. Either way, the video is usually pretty decent and is at least youtube quality. On a 1GB SD card, you can store about 20 minutes in 640 x 480 mode, and 30 minutes in 320 x 240 mode. If you are looking to do a lot of video, a 8GB card might be recommended.
The downside of the camera is the build quality. The mode wheel at the top feels a bit cheap and hard to move, and the SD and battery card cover makes me feel like it will break at any moment. The USB type it uses is exclusive to Kodak cameras, so buying used might be a problem if you do not get the cable. The battery is a rechargable one, but it does not support any other battery types so you cannot just put new ones in on the fly.
Overall, the camera was very decent for the $56 I paid for it used. You can download the PDF and drivers from Kodak's site if you are buying used, but make sure you at least get the USB cable or charger.
Digital camera Review: You don't have to spend a lot to get a great camera. Summary: 4 Stars
I just purchased the Kodak M863 digital camera and I couldn't be happier with it. It is easy to use and takes very good pictures. I have one very small problems with the camera. The user manual could have a been a little more informative. Not to worry though, you can get all the information you need on Kodak's web site. They also have a great support team . They can be contacted via the telephone and you actually get a real person to answer all your questions. This is a great little camera and for the price you can't beat it. Buy with confidence.
Digital camera Review: camera Summary: 4 Stars
this camera takes great pictures, and is compact. the only problem with this camera is it takes 10 to 15 seconds before you can snap another shot. i would definately recomend buying another camera if you have to take pictures quickly. i did not return it because their was a restocking fee.
Digital camera Review: don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this camera about a month ago and the first that I got was defective so I sent it back. The screen was messed up on that one. Got the second one used it for about 2 weeks and now it won't turn on. Called Kodak to troubleshoot told me the battery was dead, like that wasn't the first thing I thought was wrong and tried. It wasn't the battery needless to say. So I am returning this one as well. I will not be getting another Kodak anytime soon. I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you want a big hassle.
