Digital camera reviews of Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock (Series 3)

Digital camera Review: Great Photo Printer
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really great photo printer. At first I was skeptical about photo printing at home and the quality it produces, but I am really impressed with this printer. Its easy to setup and the picture quality is really good. Definitely a great buy!

Digital camera Review: Great Printer - Software May Be Trouble for Windows XP Pro Users
Summary: 3 Stars

I got the printer as part of camera/dock/printer combo as a gift - have used the printer a while and like it - nice quality. The paper/cartridge packs are a little expensive, but I really only print off those pics I want to give way so it's still loads less expensive that developing/printing rolls of film.

HOWEVER -- If you use Windows XP Pro (not an issue for XP Home users) beware that the printer driver will not work *at all* unless you have administrative rights. Kodak Support confirmed that this is "as intended."

This could be a show-stopping concern for any small businesses or home users that have a computer with XP Pro -- most of them have the users set up without Administrative rights.

Digital camera Review: Great item
Summary: 5 Stars

I have the Kodak printer dock plus, from 2004, and the dx 7630 camera. Both have consistently worked just fine. No streaks, no bubbles, no jams with the printer. The easyshare software did not want to work with vista, so I abandoned it, after tech support gave me multi-step directions to fix it. It just didn't seem worthwhile to spend the time. I use paint.net to edit photos, and Vista recognizes the camera just fine when I insert the usb into the cpu. The pictures print just fine when I place the camera on the printer.
I also have a newer HP photo printer for bigger pictures, and I think the Kodak prints better. Plus, I like the type of ink & coating that Kodak puts on the photo to preserve them.
Perhaps this printer is different from mine, but I have had mine for years now with no problems.

Digital camera Review: Great pictures, poor computer support
Summary: 2 Stars

Pictures directly from my Easyshare V550 camera are terrific, no complaints. Trying to get pictures from my hard drive via EasyShare software has been futile. Have been in touch with Kodak Support but no solution to date.

Digital camera Review: Great printer... Photo Lab quality... Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't even begin to tell you the night and day difference of photo's coming from the Easyshare Printer Dock vs. the photo's coming out of a Lexmark P4350 all-in-one.

I bought that Lexmark printer last week for my wife's birthday. I was leery even before I bought it because it was a all-in-one printer. However, there were several reviews stating the high quality photo's coming from the Lexmark -- that my friends, is rubbish.

Let me tell you -- the prints from this Easyshare Printer Dock are infinitely better -- they actually look like photo's we'd get back from the drugstore. They aren't perfect -- there's a thin line, here or there -- but they are close to perfect and I'd have a very hard time telling which came from the drugstore, and which came out of the Easyshare. I would definitely recommend this photo printer for anybody who enjoys taking pictures and sharing them with family.

The printer comes with a 10 count of photo paper and a sample ribbon to match the pack of paper. It's so simple to operate, you don't need to look at the instructions. All you need to know is that the shinny side of the film faces up -- that's pretty much it -- the rest is common sense.

Print time: From the second you press the print button, to the completion it takes 100 - 110 seconds. Entering one picture at a time (when you connect the camera on the top of the dock) could get boring, but you have the option of hooking up a computer and setting up the order of pictures to print. The dock's film holder is set up to hold 20 blanks (photo paper) at a time. Each ribbon (which is super simple to change) holds enough ink for 40 prints (two packs of paper). There is no guessing game -- they are all rationed out perfectly. I read a few reviews stating that the ink sometimes runs out before you print out all 40 pictures, but so far I've had no problems with that.

This printer is not for professionals -- although I think it's safe to say that anyone intelligent knows they'd have to spend much more than $100 for professional grade.

The Easyshare Printer Dock Series 3 is definitely worth the money -- you can get a new one for under $90 from everyone's favorite auction site (by the "bay").
Good luck, and happy shopping.
