Digital camera Review: Works even after being left in the rain for a whole day!

I have loved this little camera ever since I got it. I bought a BUILT neoprene case for it which slides right onto a belt so it will be easy to carry around at amusement parks, etc. A couple of weeks ago I misplaced the camera and searched everywhere for it. After looking and praying, my husband found it laying in the middle of the backyard. The case was soaked through thanks to the mid-winter monsoon that had been on the east coast for the last day or so. We took the camera out of the case and it was a bit damp, but the battery compartment was completely dry. We waited a few hours before we tried to power it up. It worked perfectly even after being outside in the rain and at near freezing temps. I love the versatility of it and the ease of use. I am not as thrilled with the software, but I haven't had a lot of time to work with it yet. While I wanted a 32 Gb memory card, I opted for a 16 GB due to the cost. I needed a smaller camera to make films to publicize where I work. this worked perfectly and was very easy to download onto my computer. If any other company made this camera it would be a 5 star winner in all categories. Unfortunately, it comes from Kodak. With a century of experience, the company clearly knows how to build a great product. However, it still hasn't learned about customer service, support or software. There is no editing software included. You can simply import the video in its proprietary format and send it to Facebook or two other social network sites. Suppose you simply want to string together a few clips, add a title, delete a bad spot in the video and email it. or that you need the competitor's lip camera which comes with great software and customer support. Forget about it with Kodak. The thinking behind the Zi8 (who came up with THAT catchy name ???)begins and ends with the hardware. With all the features built into the unit it outshines every other similar unit in the marketplace. But the team fumbled before they got to the goal line. One good firmware update and some decent editing software which includes easy email, and this is a complete winner. Easy to set up, use, and the picture quality is outstanding.
The company should have stated, on the outside of the package, that it did NOT come with a flash card. The internal memory is good, but not enough for Christmas video's. This was a surprise and we could not get a card on Christmas day.

makes good video. looks nice. battery lasts enough. the biggest problem is that its zooming isn't very good and when you zoom while taking a video, it is not smooth. and i wish the software had more options for switching the video in more formats with various resolutions.
