Digital camera reviews of Koss PortaPro Headphones with Case

Digital camera Review: A real steal in this day and age
Summary: 4 Stars

For $30, you simply can't beat these headphones. When my Bose earbuds died of a short at the jack a few months ago, I started searching for an affordable pair of earbuds/headphones that fit well and had excellent sound. After trying some Klipsch earbuds and Koss over-the-ear headphones, I stumbled onto these via a cnet review. They're great. I wear these at work so it's important that I be able to hear other sounds like a phone ringing or co-workers trying to get my attention. At the same time, I value high quality sound and these, surprisingly, provide. Sound is great. They're light and fairly portable. The only thing I don't like is that even set at the lightest tension setting, they still squeeze my head enough to make my ears a bit sore after a long time (I have big ears - your results may vary). I'm happy I bought these and would recommend them to others.

Digital camera Review: A really nice set of headphones for a reasonable price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have an iPhone which is great - except for the ear buds which fall out of my ears continuously. Anyway, I did some research on Amazon and came to this pair. They are comfortable to wear, sound great, and fold into a little origami-type bundle for travel. They even come with a little case/bag. The price - including shipping - just $32! In a world of $150 ear buds and $299 over the ear models is a screaming deal. The other nice part is there's a limited lifetime warranty. Negatives are minor: Instructions are pretty minimal so it takes a little trial and error to get them to fold properly. Other than that, I would recommend these without hesitation.

Quick update: I had them clasped together for travel and when I opened them up the headband came apart. It took two minutes to put them back together - but still! I was thinking of returning them but they sound so good, I'm going to give them another shot.

Quick update 2: Another month has gone by and they've come apart again. However the sound is so good, I'm keeping 'em. Aside from this, these are great sounding headphones - much better in fact than some costing a lot more.

Digital camera Review: A safe choice
Summary: 4 Stars

Having (ab)used these continuously for about nine months, my impression is that they offer decent sound quality in an easily portable package. I have had difficulty with one headphone popping off the frame (I believe I ran into the problem three times in the first three months), but it easily snapped back on, no loss. For an economical, portable headphone, I recommend it, but with a warning that my pair (my thoroughly abused pair, I reiterate) developed an intermittent failure in one earphone at the end of this period.

Digital camera Review: AMAZED!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Ok, I've been trying out headphones for over a year now. This whole time I've seen all the rave reviews of these but I passed them up 5 times for other headphones. All the headphones I've purchased have been in the $100 and under category. None of them have provided the balance of price, sound quality, and comfort that I've been searching for. Finally, I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the PortaPros were on sale for $27 on Amazon.com. So, I finally decided to go ahead and get a set. Finaly, the perfect balance I've been looking for!!!! I know they're not the best sounding headphones on the market but they really do have a great balanced sound with balanced low end, mid-range, and high-end. They are very light and super comforatable. The main reason why I kept passing them up was the complaints of sound leakage. They do leak sound because they are the open design. The high-end headphones are all open design and they all leak sound. I work in an office environment so this is a concern for me. I have a Createive ZEN MP3 player that I use at work and I'm able to set the volume half way (15 out of 25) before the sound leakage is noticeable to my coworkers. Most of the day I don't go above 10 or 11 so 15 is plenty loud for all day usage. And on top of all this, if you ever have a problem with them you ship them back to KOSS ($6 shipping charge) and they send you a new pair (FOREVER!!!!!). Finally, something I've purchased has lived up to all the hype!!!!

Digital camera Review: AMAZING! Amazing company and Amazing headphones!
Summary: 5 Stars

Koss has a LIFETIME warranty on their headphones. I've taken mine in for repairs years later, and they repaired them! NO QUESTIONS ASKED, NO RECEIPT, NO WARRANTY CERTIFICATE, NO NOTHING! They just fix them. You can damage them, and they fix them like NEW! These people are amazing! Amazing is the least I can say for KOSS. So are the headphones!!! Excellent quality! I bought their wireless headphone 8 years ago, had the ear muffs repaired once a few years later, free. This company stands behind their products! AMAZING!
