Digital camera reviews of LG BD 370 Network Blu-ray Disc PlayerDigital camera Review: DOA! Summary: 1 Stars
LG player was in-operative on arrival. I had to pay to ship it back. Bought a different brand from another merchant
Digital camera Review: Dead Summary: 1 Stars
Died within year of purchase, just out of warranty. Absolutely no power to the system any more. Was fine one day and then never worked again. Do not purchase if you want something that will last you any reasonable amount of time.
Digital camera Review: Died After 1 Year! Summary: 1 Stars
Seems like this is a more recent trend here. Worked great for a awhile. Now will not boot up or play discs. Just read the recent reviews before this one and it's the same old song and dance with this player. LG made a lemon. Have a Sony DVD player that lasted me 12 years, may be time to go back to them for my blu ray needs.
Good thing this is discontinued by LG, but if you're buying this from outside seller or anywhere, beware! You've been warned multiple times. Most of these good reviews came earlier when the player was newer.
Digital camera Review: Died Today A Few Months Out of Warranty Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this unit from Amazon on November 6, 2009 and today it just up and died. From all the other reviews I see that say very similar things, I guess you should not buy this unit. They don't seem to last much more than a year. It worked fine while it worked but it sounds like getting it repaired will cost more than getting a new unit. Bummer.
Digital camera Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this Blu-ray player because I wanted to have my Netflix streaming on my television again. It does pretty good with Netflix streaming though I've found a few movies that makes the unit just completely shut down. No idea why. Just goes black and then the unit turns itself off. Blu-ray movies come out very well. My biggest issue with this unit (outside the Netflix bug) is that the upconversion is bad. I should say horrid. If you try and watch a standard def movie in anything other than 480i you get black lines throughout the movie. I tried this on SEVERAL movies and it was just horrible. This is something I read in another review when I went looking for a fix. Yet to find one outside of moving resolution to 480i.
Thankfully it isn't TOO much of a hassle to change resolutions but it is still something that shouldn't have to happen. If it wasn't for the 480i work around this would have been a 2 star review. I mean even my cheap 60$ toshiba dvd player upconverts without issue. I also find it annoying that you have to have a usb thumb drive to use BD-Live features. I've not yet experienced but have also heard that movies using 7.1 surround won't work on this unit. That is the reason I may actually consider returning this blu-ray player.
Pros:
Blu-ray playback is quite nice
Netflix Streaming when it works is pretty flawless
Youtube...a slight pro as I can't see using the unit for such stuff often.
CinemaNow? i guess it is something. I'll still use my Tivo to rent movies from Amazon if I want to go that route
Cons:
Upconversion is the worst I've ever seen. Black lines throughout unless you have the unit set to 480i. LG should be ashamed to even state the unit can upconvert. It can't.
Occasionally Netflix movies will make the unit simply turn off. I haven't figured out a why or if my unit is simply defective but if there are too many I'll return.
Need to us a USB drive to use BD-Live features
?May not play movies that use 7.1 surrond
Update: It seems to the Netflix stream seems to hang up on any movie I've started and then try returning too. Since this is the reason I bought the unit I'll be returning it tomorrow. I've lowered my review to 2 stars due to the bugs in this unit.
