Digital camera reviews of LaCie Hard Disk 1 TB FireWire 400/USB 2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive, Design by Neil Poulton 301315U

Digital camera Review: Outstanding storage device
Summary: 5 Stars

I received my Lacie 1 TB drive today. I simply plugged the external drive in using the FireWire 400 interface and it works great. No problems or hassels at all. I started transferring photo back-ups to the drive and it transferred a 9 GB folder in 11 minutes. This is my second Lacie external drive. My last one was a 40 GB drive purchased 8 years ago (back then, that was huge) and it is still running perfectly.

Digital camera Review: Inexpensive, hefty amount of space
Summary: 5 Stars

If storage is reliable and functions as quickly as it is supposed to it is a great product--and while it is only a month or so old now it fulfills those promises. The design is slick, and the price is very reasonable too.

I am a Mac user and purchased this to back up my iPhoto libraries, my iTunes folder and as a capture scratch for Final Cut Pro projects.

Great drive.

Digital camera Review: So Far So Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to back-up my back-up. I have had a LaCie 250GB external for almost 4 years and have had no issues (knock on wood). As many of you know, media takes up the disk space pretty fast these days, and I was looking to free up my computer's hard drive a bit, but I also know you shouldn't leave all your eggs in one basket. So far, this 1tb has been great. It seems to have a rest mode so you can have it on without it being fully active. It comes with back-up software, but from what I've seen the backup program uses a compression algorithm to save space, which is great, but might be a problem if you need to extract the data in the event of a disk failure. Mine has done exactly what I've expected of it so far. Nice to have the multiple connection options (including firewire). Nonetheless, I will always keep multiple copies of my data. After all, it is a device created by humans.

Digital camera Review: Great Buy
Summary: 4 Stars

I thought that it was great buy. The mac store carries them also! That made me confident

Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought my Lacie external hard drive and the disc failed in less than a year. After speaking with a customer representative, I sent it for "testing" to their repair center. Turns out, they simply replaced it and I lost my entire catalogue of iTunes music, as well as photos and other irreplaceable items. All they could give me was a "sorry." Do not trust the quality, and definitely do not assume your data is protected. Learn from my loss, please!
