Digital camera Review: Very Easy Set Up and excelent product
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this HD with my MacBook Pro and the initial set up was really easy. I use with time machine and it works perfectly. Is my first time using an external HD and also setup a second partition of the disk for pictures, so I could move all my old files to this HD and have more space in my mac. The speed connection is very fast.
Really it's an excellent product.

Digital camera Review: Great Drive, Great Price! Looks Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great looking little drive with almost zero perceptible noise coming from it's sleek chassis. I leave it on for days at a time and it only feels slightly warm to the touch. Sleek, but cool! Pardon the pun. It is remarkably priced and the drive zings along at lightening speeds. I own an Apple Tv box with forty gigs. The main reason for purchasing this drive was it's portability and large storage capacity. My Windows XP computer only has a 80 gig drive so I quickly filled up my hard drive with all the movies I backed up for my 80 gig Ipod as well as my Apple TV. I transferred all my movies, documents, music, and other videos with ease and still have barely touched the space afforded by my giant 500 gig hard drive. Some have complained about the power switch being located in the rear. Wow, picky, picky. The switch is rarely required and when you do need to shut it off simply reach over the top and touch with one finger the round power button. Your finger slides right into the exact spot perfectly, without having to pickup the drive and turning it around. Looks better back there then in the front. You also have the option of ejecting the drive or simply turning it off in your set up menus. I simply eject it like my Ipod, camera, etc. etc. Plenty of cord length and even comes with Lacies backup software! I highly recommend this product and it receives the Lingle 5 star rating!!!!!!!!!!!

Digital camera Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with this drive. I have been using it for about six months now, and it's been quite reliable so far. I am also quite pleased with its noise level (or almost complete lack thereof). It's easily the quietest external hard drive I have ever used. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that the included USB cable is only about a foot long, but that can be replaced easily enough.

One thing to note: I also own the "newer" model (LaCie Desktop Hard Disk 301285U 500 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive). Even though the newer model is cheaper as of this writing, I would not recommend it as highly. The new drive is much louder, the power adapter is one of those that tends to occupy three slots on a power strip because of its width, and (worst of all) it can't be turned off without unplugging it. All of those features make the "old" drive well worth the extra $20 in my opinion.

Digital camera Review: Increadible Product and Quiet Too!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my 4th La Cie External Hard Drive. I've gotten addicted to their great design, their size, and the fact that they stack neatly on top of each other. I've got a 160G, 2 each @250G, and now the 500G. Not only do they look incredibly cool, take up little space, but they really do an amazing job. I highly recommend the company and the products.

Digital camera Review: The perfect USB backup with the Apple Airport Extreme.
Summary: 5 Stars

Leopard's Time Machine now permits wireless backup via the Airport Extreme USB port. The LaCie is not only silent, beautiful and cool (thermally speaking), it has a very unobtrusive power-on light. Some external drives have LEDs that can light a room, this one is very subtle. It should have enough capacity to store a year of my back ups based on recent experience with a Firewire Drive that I had been using.

I've been able to cobble together my own version of Apple's Time Capsule.
