Digital camera Review: Firewire powered is a great feature

I'm using this with my macbook pro. I looked around a lot because the macbook only has 2 USB ports, so I wanted something I could plug in somewhere else. The Firewire 800 is fast, and it powers the drive, so no carrying around another power pack.
The drive comes with all the cables you will need firewire 800, 400, USB, and a optional power cord if you have an older laptop that might not be pushing enough amps through the USB (ie. you may have to plug 1 USB in for the data, and 1 for the power).
It was plug and play for me. No installing of drivers or any other monkey biz. Just started backing up data.

Just what I can say that its very good disk, it have three different data ports, and is why I bough it but its firewire 400 connector its not the same that we found in the most of laptops.
However its a fast, quiet and reliable disk. Other things to say it become hot very fast, maybe because the aluminum case its exposed.

This is a good portable drive. Works fairly fast. Pretty reliable. But it gets warm really fast. You can put a piece of toast on it to keep it warm. It's bulkier than other portable drives. Nice that it has multiple connections. USB and firewire.Digital camera Review: Good little portable drive

This drive works exactly as designed. It's small. It's rugged and it does exactly what I want in enabling a portable storage device for taking along on photo shooting trips where I can store back-up copies of my data. I have more than one Rugged drive and the only questionable comment I'd offer is that sometimes they seem to get hotter than would seem good. My first Mac is an older iBook [2005] and has only a 60GB HD.
Using this LaCie, I was able to make 3 partitions: 1 to backup the install DVD for Leopard, 1 that contains a clone of my HD and is what I am now booting from [160GB], and 1 for extra photo & video storage [60GB].
[I used Carbon Copy Cloner w/ Disk Utility instead of trying-out the backup software that came w/ the HD.] So far; so good - very happy be able to install new software, work w/ graphics and have plenty of room to spare ;-)
