Digital camera Review: FW800 port crapped out after 2 weeks
Summary: 2 Stars

Was perfect for 2 weeks-- then the FW800 port stopped working for no reason. Everything else works fine. But no more high speed transfers, which is a drag... Now we'll see how their exchange policy is!

Digital camera Review: Fragile Drive without Rubber
Summary: 3 Stars

This HD is good as many reviewers said, I wont ad more Pros
1 Big Cons: without the Rubber or when I pull out the rubber i found that isn't totally aluminum cased,.. the borders are plastic!! mean sadly plastic!
men this is the reason to rate only ***3 I look for a totally aluminum case
EX hard drive, this drive let me down. and no one mention this before.

Digital camera Review: Good, flexible portable drive
Summary: 4 Stars

Got this drive as a data redundancy companion to my 2007 Mac Book Pro, after a previous external drive died. Love the FW 800 connection option, which is a great improvement in speed over typical USB 2. Love the bus-power; no extra power supply or cord. Apparently rugged case but very lightweight, although somewhat bulky compared to other 2.5" portables. Mac set-up software was easy-- included option to create a small-ish Windows partition, which I did to exchange big files with others. I am using the included Intego Back-up software which seems to work well. I have not tried the included Windows utilities or back up software.

Price/Value was good given the capacity and triple interface. One main thing I deduct a star for: no drive status/activity light - I did not realize how important that is to see so you can safely handle or move a small portable drive while connected. Also noticed the drive does not spin down after "Safely removed" under Vista via USB (maybe a Vista quirk?).

UPDATE: After about 10 months of daily use I can say the drive is still working well, no critical hardware issues like others have noted. One problem I see as others have-- the FW 800 port seems looser now and does not hold the cable firmly in place. No data loss-- yet. Device would benefit from a more flexible FW 800 cable and/or a deeper/snugger port.

Digital camera Review: Great Buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

Worked right out of the box. Immediately used to backup my iTunes and iPhoto library. Speedy and quiet external HD. I don't know how this unit will respond to "bumps-and-bruises" but it looks very rugged from the outside. I've purchased LaCie Hd in the past and have never been disappointed with its performance.

Digital camera Review: Great Drive, One Problem
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this drive and it hasn't failed on me yet. I have been using it with time machine, and they work together flawlessly. The price for the drive was a very, very, very good deal compared with other products and sites. I do have one negative thing to say, and that is that the drive looks small in the pictures, it's hard to tell the size because there is no item to compare it to. So it was a little bit larger than I thought it would be when I bought it. Even though the size is larger than I thought it would be it weighs less than I thought it would. Buy this drive!
P.S. I love how it has the versatility to switch between USB 2.0, Firewire 400, and Firewire 800.
